Today I joined!!!!!!!!!!

Apon many attempts of trying to quit smoking in many different ways I feel that I have been a failure to myself. But today I signed up here with much hope to be successful with my want to quit the habbit of ciggerettes. I have smoked for almost 15 years and I have been wanting to quit for 5 years and tried many programs and medications none of wich have worked for me. I have set my date to quit on Febuary 2nd that is what this program suggested. I would like to do it sooner but this time I am bound and deturmaned to be successful. So I am going to be mindful and follow all suggestions that come my way I don't want to rush anything to just set myself up for failure again. So here I go I am once again on my way to a healther life but this time with support. I pray that is what it will take to make me accomplish my biggest goal.

Man, that sounds like my story!!  I have been smoking for more than 30 years and I am sooooo tired of it.  Each time I quit, I enjoy the smoke-free smell and taste.  I never realized how much I stunk until I quit..and everyone else noticed it too.  I have tried the gum (allergic), the patch (allergic) and Chantix (that worked for a long time).  I am ready to quit NOW.  Not only are we a dying breed, but for myself and my family and the man in my life, THIS IS IT!!  I am asking for help, encouragement, a swift kick in the rear end...whatever it takes to help me meet my goal.  My quit date (as suggested by the site) is January 27, 2010.  Hold me up!!!

I am here because I want to quit smoking, but a part of me is saying No you don't.I have smoked for over 30 years with a 1 time quit for almost 2 years. My health is reflecting the years of smoking. I am a diadetic and have the first stages of COPD. I know I really need to quit. But I have to get rid of the voice in my head that is holding me back.

I am very hopefull this program will assist me in my quit smoking campaign and I will be smoke free at last. My Quit date is set for 01-12-2010 Help me keep that date!

I have set my quit date, and I am sticking to it.  I exercise. I eat right (for the most part-teehee.) I am just a bonehead who picked up her first cig at 19; quit at 26;started during a divorce at 32 and now I am 42 and I want to live a long time!

My date is January 2, 2010.  I want to run a half-marathon in April.  I am up to 6 miles now.

I look forward to the support, and helping others, too!

I have tried to quit more times than I can count. I really want to but it is so hard. I have very little support. Every time I slip it really brings me down and think whats the point, and even worse if I should get caught slipping by my family I basically get beat down. At least on here I have people in the same boat willing to support one another.

I have tried everything to quit. Pills the patch you name it. I hallucinated (sp) on all of them. I have bad anxiety and smoking is about the only thing that calms me. Any suggestions are welcomed. Please help.

Anxiety and smoking seems to go hand in hand. I know what you mean.

I have just joined and starting smoking at the age of sixteen, 5 years ago I had a brain annuerism and when I woke up I didn't remember smoking so I was a non-smoker for about 2 months and then I started sneaking around and smoking before you know it I was hooked again. I can't believe I was that stupid but I was now I have grandchildren but I am still healthy and dthink that smoking is a very good way of not being around for my grandchildren I went to the doctor last month and got the prescription drug chantix I am dow to about six or seven cigarettes a day I just need help to get through times like my breaks at work and my drive home. These are times I really enjoy smoking and I need to figure out how any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. someone told me cinnamon candy helps so I am trying to substitute that but it is still very hard.

I just joined today. I am so excited about quitting. All the money I am saving from not paying $7 a pack is in my piggy bank. I was not a heavy smoker. Only a pack a week. So far I am in week number 2. I am so motivated this time and I have a great support group that I didn't have before. Cold turkery is my route. I learned that extremely cold water and Twizzlers help to cure my cravings for some reason. I started having breathing problems and one day I could not climb a simple flight of stairs. I am only 37 which is too young to be on oxygen.  I also think back to that old commercial where the lady had a hole in her throat. Too many like Swayze and some of my friends have lost their lives to Cancer this year. They were all smokers. No more smoking in bars or the casino. I cannot smoke on my employers property (400 acres) and I work 12 hour days. So that is my motivation for quitting this time and sticking to it. I hope that at this time next year I will be signing in for a one year anniversary.
