The Beast

I thought the smoking was the beast because it kills people. But now I know that the nicotine is the beast because it keeps us coming back to the smoking. I have not relapsed and do not intend to, but at day 20 of no nicotine, I still occasionally fiend for it. Actually, not for the smoking, but for that stupid nicotine gum. My eyes bug out and I get excess energy. I have to breath deeply and remember that it is my addiction trying to get me back. I pull on my faith and use that to turn the craving into an unmanageable and surrender it to God. I surrender the crave to him. You deal with this because I can't. After a few minutes it is gone and I am ok. Hang in there if you are having cravings. It will leave after a few minutes. It is just the Beast.
