Please help! How do i NOT smoke at a party????

So I was doing great allll week. I didn't smoke despite particular triggers and felt good. I am on this frikkin site alllll the time because i really do think it helps. But because i couldnt carry my laptop around last night at this party i had a few cigs.
I knew it going there i felt that tightening in my chest and i knew everyone would be gone and smoking while on their way to total wastedness.
I have no idea how to NOT smoke in that situation. I wasnt drunk or high, i dont do either, i just love my friends and they all are so insane and at a party i feel like a cig is the only thing i have. HELP ME! this sucks so bad.

Ahhhh, the party. It's the worst! For me it's the casino.. I smoke my whole week's worth last night and pretty much hate myself today. My quit date is coming up, I've been phasing out, doing without a lot of them but last night was a total disaster. For me, I will have to stay away from the casino. It sucks, but if I can't figure a way to NOT smoke there, I won't go. I don't know what to tell you since I can't figure it out myself... stay away from parties for awhile??? That sucks too. You shouldn't have to give up your whole social life, but I think to be successful at this I might have to for a bit. I'll be watching to see what everyone else has to say....get back on that horse!!!!

For me, I have to put myself out of the way of my triggers until I get stronger.... I view smoking like any other addiction, you can't be around drinking if you are a alcholic in the beginging, so I've told all my friends that smoke that I'm going to need to be around my non-smoking friends more right now, they all understand and are very supportive of me, maybe I can learn some coping skills as I go along in my quit but for now, it's NO putting myself in harm's way, GOD BLESS

Some one on here told me to protect my quit like it was a new born baby. That made sense to me on more than one level. Would you take your new born to a party with lots of drinking and smoking. Your quit is your new baby and it's not very strong yet. protect it until it is ready to deal with those kinds of situations. Just give it time. KEEP THE QUIT!!!
