I read this yesterday and had to think about it. Something didn't seem quite right about answering yes or no--from my perspective. But it took a day to realize what my reluctance was. I'd prefer to replace the word busy with action. When I quit, I fell into action--every action I took to stay smober was a conscious one. So I did busy myself with all kinds of activity--but I knew why--to stay smober. No excuses. I knew my activities would begin and end, maybe fill the void, maybe not, but that I had to do something each day. I could not allow myself to consider smoking.
