I have a red cedar closet (wardrobe cabinet) It has been in the homes of smokers for years and years. I have always washed it with pinesol and warm water. I don't ever remember it leaching on to clothing before I quit smoking. Now when you hang stuff in there they turn yellow if they touch the sides or back of the closet. I have all our clothes in plastic bags because of the problem. Can someone help me solve it? I was given the Wardrobe cabinet in Germany and I don't think it had any type of finish inside except for oil. The previous owner used Mr. Clean or Pinesol which ever she happened to have. Thanks!
