Chantix for 5 weeks now and still smoking - help!

Hi:

I started taking Chantix 5 weeks ago. The medicine did absolutely nothing for 3 weeks. Then all of a sudden the urge to smoke lessened. I was thrilled but still did not feel comfortable enought to quit entirely. The urge to smoke has lessened each day and I am smoking less and less. I was smoking 1.5 packs per day and am now smoking about 1/2 pack. I feel stronger because I taught myself to work through some difficult times. I am slowly changing my habits and feel better each day.

Here's my question - should I continue to try to reduce my smoking each day or should I just stop being a ball-baby and just quit (I'm afraid I will fail like I have every other time).

(I'm 51 and have smoked since I was 15.)

Just set a date and don't be a ball-baby! You can do it, it's worth it, you're there success-baby
