After the Patch

I’m now on the 17mg patch for the next two weeks. How do I prepare for the end of the two weeks and go without the patch? I do have a box of Nicorette gum but I would rather not use it. I think of the patches as a crutch and don’t want to keep relying on a ‘chemical ‘ to stay quit. I’m worried. Advice???

Good for you, have a SPECTACULAR vacation, what a wonderful way to enjoy being smoke free.  I am so happy for you. Jennifer-Quit‌ is SO RIGHT...it is NOT the patch that quit, it is YOU and YOU have done this.  Keep going and stacking those precious days.  Congratulations.

Pay attention to triggers now and cope with them. You will feel triggered to smoke whether or not you are wearing the patch. At this point, having weened yourself down to Step 3, the withdrawal symptoms coming off the patch should be minimal. My experience with the patch is that there are some increased cravings when I drop my dose of nicotine, but nothing significant.
