Welcome!! I have started the fire. We need you to keep this fire burning! The fire will continue til Sunday midnight wherever you may live. This is how to calculate your fuel for the fire. It is your number of days that you are smoke free  multiplied by how many that you used to smoke per day. If you need additional help, contact me. If you don't want to keep getting notifications from this post, click on actions above and uncheck following.

We usually have a standard goal of 1 million but we have exceeded this number by at least double. Let's see what we can do!!!

Feel free to post music, food, funny images. Note that we do have to watch copyright on images. Here is how to search images that aren't copyrighted. Google search, type  ie. food. Then click on images, to the right , click on tools, user rights and you can choose anything BUT not filtered by license.

In case you don't know how to post videos or images, here are the tutorials.

It's truly wonderful to see the quitters of yore who came back because they care enough to add to the bonfire statistics.  That shows a true dedication to their quits and love for the site.  (Perhaps love for the site that 'was.'  We sadly lost so many of our family when the site migrated.)  I just wish they were still around to add some of their amazing wisdom.  I learned so much from all of them.  And they were just wonderful people to hang out with on the old site.

Kudos JoAnne on the 10 years.  Thank you for stopping by and adding your amazing number.   I remember it being a really important milestone for me because of all the happy statistics they throw out on that 10 year milestone.  Whether it's true or not, I liked to think so!   "After 10 years, a person's chances of developing lung cancer and dying from it are roughly cut in half compared with someone who continues to smoke. The likelihood of developing mouth, throat, or pancreatic cancer has significantly reduced."

Be well and stay eternally free!  joanne5-14-2008

I want to thank Shawn for presenting this bonfire.  She is the QUEEN OF THE BONFIRES!  Bar none.  She has more bonfires under her belt than anybody else.  I did ONE bonfire and learned what a true labor of love it is.  For the uninitiated - let me say it takes an enormous amount of time.   It's taking the time to find unique pictures and songs and respond to people throughout the entire time of the bonfire.  And a great deal of the time spent is simply in contacting everybody, old and new, like contacting all those old members (who have the most unsmoked cigarettes to burn)  And although you can copy and paste the "Come to the Bonfire" verbiage on this platform, you have to pass it on one by one by one for hundreds of people.  There is no way to just put a check mark next to people's names (like on the old platform)  and then just send an email en mass.

Shawn - I know the work involved.  It truly grieves me that the majority of responses are from long-term quitters.  I wish that more newbie's had piped up. But I suspect that they simply couldn't figure out how to get here.

Anyway - big blessings on your head for all the work you'e done.  And here's hoping we achieve a new milestone.

About the Author
I am 51 yrs old and live in the Greater Cleveland area. I started smoking at a young age. I think it was more peer pressure at that time and just a few cigarettes a day until i became "LEGAL" to smoke. I then started smoking a pack or more a day, using stress as my excuse to smoke more. In reality, I realized after i quit smoking that there is no excuses for smoking. I am approaching 4 yrs next month, but I still have to work to protect my quit. I am here on Ex faithfully helping others and in return helps me. We call it here on Ex "Collateral Kindness" here is a link to my blog, 1 yr later that explained my trials in the the beginning of my quit. https://excommunity.becomeanex.org/blogs/ShawnP-blog/2013/03/14/one-year-later
