2 MONTHS SMOKE FREE

Its been a little over two months since I threw out the nasty cigarettes and today I weighed myself for the first time since I quit smoking and was really disappointed in myself for packing on 13 pounds.  I knew my clothes were snug and tight but I wasn't prepared for that much weight gain.  I could already stand to lose ten pounds like my doctor told me last year to lose and now I'm over twenty pounds over weight.  Before you think I'm using this an excuse to smoke I am NOT.

I didn't think about smoking and it didn't trigger me to want a cigarette, I'm just having me a pity party because no woman such as myself wants to gain even a pound!  I just turned 40 and I have always exercised regularly but now I'm replacing food for cigarettes.

I'm going to set a goal for myself to get past this, I don't know what its going to be yet but anyone else please drop me line and tell me how long you weighted after quitting smoking, how much time did you allow yourself before you went on to the next stage to lose the weight?

My only triggers to smoke is when I think of a casino, thank GOD the casino is 2 hours away because I would go a few times a year and used that as an way to get away for the day and puff it away.  I'm now spending more time reading and exercising to deal with stress and going to the movies quiet often.  I have to exchange my habits for something better right! I'm going to end my little rants with on a positive note, so any of you out there having a bad day and want a cigarette just promise yourself you will wait 24 hours and not smoke, brush your teeth, down a glass of cold water, whatever you do please don't smoke, its not worth!  God Bless and have a great day!

Congrats on 2 months smoke free! Look how far you've come. Please don't allow a few extra pounds get you down. You are young enough yet to get those pounds off easily. Not smoking is far more beneficial to your health than a few extra pounds. I too gained weight, but I don't let it get to me. I'm nearly 62 years old and at this point in my life I'm not about to start any exercise regimen. I am beginning to watch my food intake though, all those doughnuts, cakes and candies had to go. Try not to look at your scale too often and watch what you eat, you'll do fine. Anyone who is strong enough to quit smoking for 2 months can certainly have it in them to lose a few pounds. Best to you!

I would at least wait four months (130 days or so) before worrying about the weight gain.  Dieting yet is probably not a good idea.  Try subbing a healthy, low cal snack in between the calorie-rich ones, and do increase your exercise if you can.

That should help keep the number of pounds to a minimum over the next couple of months.

You will have more time, energy and even funds to join a gym at that point and I think you will not have much trouble getting the weight off.

Congrats on two months!

Congratulations on two months!!! I wouldn't worry about the weight just yet. The main thing is to be comfortable with your quit. The weight can come off later. I know I gained many pounds during my quit and the weight came off quickly once I was able to work on it.

ONWARD TO FREEDOM!!!
