If I publish a blog under Conversations ........

Jump to solution

I already know the answer to this, but I think I've finally figured out the confusion.  So here it goes:  If I publish a blog under Conversations, why isn't it showing up on the home page on the right-hand side under Recent Conversations since it was published under that category?

See what you think, but I think instead of having it as Recent Conversations as the title on the right-hand side, it should have Recent Activity or some such.  I don't know.  What do you think?

I agree the use of "Conversations" could be refined.  We didn't want to put in "Recently Active Discussions, Questions and Status Updates". Both the Blogs widget and the Discussions/Questions/Status Updates widget show content posted from across the whole site. As someone else mentioned, you see the location of where exactly it is posted right under the title.

Conversations is a Community that houses multiple different content types(Blogs, Questions, Discussions, Polls, Documents, Videos). It's not a "Category". Think of it more as a location.

Maybe we could remove the ability to blog in https://excommunity.becomeanex.org/community/conversations?sr=search&searchId=23f6982e-f441-47f2-8d7...‌ and only allow blogging in Groups and Personal blogs. Then a majority of the Blogs will show up in member's personal blogs. As of right now a majority of the content is being posted in https://excommunity.becomeanex.org/community/conversations?sr=search&searchId=6e91faf6-c27a-42c4-9aa...‌ as a question or a discussion.

I think there's 2 places you can blog from. From Your Page AND from the Conversations Tab. Regardless of where you blog from (The green mountainy icon) the Blog will always appear in the left column. Notice in the right column on the home page, you never see the green blog icon. They are all on the left.

You can blog from your page, your ex feed, the conversations tab, the pencil..... I'm sensing a Dr. Seuss book in the making !!!!  I think the word "Conversation" on the home page under Recent Conversations title on the right-hand side is what is confusing to people.  they think that if they publish under the category of https://excommunity.becomeanex.org/community/conversations?sr=search&searchId=aa8c7b0f-c563-4398-bbd... instead of your personal blog, it will appear on the right-hand side.  I think if you are using the blogging function on the site, that option of publishing under https://excommunity.becomeanex.org/community/conversations?sr=search&searchId=aa8c7b0f-c563-4398-bbd... should be removed, thus removing the confusion

For sure about the Dr. Seuss book! LOL. The conversation tab and recent conversations is a confusing dynamic. I agree

Jennifer got me to the right place in this blog of mine.

I hope this helps too. I now go to "Read The Latest Updates" and sort by "Newest Created"
