you have to be active for 30 days before you set a quit date I believe, track your smoking for 30 days and when you realize your triggers and start separating yourself from them you can set a quit date. I think they do it this way because if you set a quit date right now it creates more stress on you. this way you learn your habit you learn how to break it and its easier.

I have set my quit date for July 28. Partly because my smoking patterns are very predictable but partly because my kids will be with their Dad that week and I can concentrate on me.

happy2read: I just stumbled on your post here and noticed your quit date was yesterday. Did you do it?! 🙂

I haven't set a quit date yet, but I like the idea of tracking my smoking for some time before I try to quit. I think I'm going to do that.
