It could be that your body is trying to cleanse itself from the damage done by smoking, but I don't know if that is really the cause. I also don't know why this has increased since you quit, but trying some of these ideas might help.
I have also read that a bit of lemon water will help thin the gunk!
Whatever is going on, it is NOT a reason to smoke!
