If I've gotten your quit date wrong, be sure to update it and then go through the steps to sync it to the community.

Please check your Community Profile to see if you've indicated how many cigarettes on average you smoked per day. Then go to the My Quit Stats tab in your profile to see how many cigarettes you have avoided or put the mouse over your username and then click the little "ex" button in the lower left of the hovercard pop-up.

*** Stats are approximate based on people who have been active on EX Community in last 549 days, have indicated a quit date and have indicated cigs/day that they smoked on average when they were a smoker. People who didn't specifically indicate how many they smoked on average were assumed to have smoked 20/cigs a day.

I am so glad to be free from the awful habit and addiction of

vaping/nicotine. I still crave it but I'm over 100 days free!

119 days here, cold turkey! So when does the magic happen? When will I breathe better? Have more energy and stamina? When will food taste better? When will my sense of smell get better? Why are the cravings somehow worse now than at "peak withdrawl" 3 days in? Why am I STILL having every known withdrawl symptom 119 days in? Why so I still crave them like crazy? All I've had to show for quitting is 35 lbs of weight gain without even trying, crippling depression and anohedia, worse stress, anxiety, sickness, aches pains, and somehow if you can believe it, WORSE breathing!! I can hardly move!!! So many "I'm glad I quit those nasty things " testimonials, just wondering when I can say the same? I quit for health reasons and I seem so much worse off in EVERY WAY health wise, how is this possible?

First off, congrats on 119 days quit! Glad you're back here.  Sorry it's been a frustrating experience.  Have you connected with your healthcare professional? They might have some suggestions now that you've quit.  Additionally I'm sure there are others here who have had a similar challenge after quitting. No one is coming to mind for me at the moment but I'm sure Giulia‌ or YoungAtHeart‌ can think of someone who has had a similar experience and can share some details on who you might connect with.

Wow, that's a lot of misery for a long time you've been going through.  In my experience usually there's SOME sense of a positive change/improvement taking place.  For me the sense of smell was the first improvement I noticed.  I'm sorry that hasn't happened for you.  Anhedonia - I had to look that up.  I'm curious - are you familiar with the word because you have been perhaps diagnosed with it?  Do you normally suffer from anxiety and depression?  If you have anhedonia, from what I just read,  it's understandable that you may not perceive the positive changes that have taken effect.  The only major change I noticed was the increase in my sense of smell.  I too put on weight.  Didn't notice any change in stamina, how food tasted, breathing, etc.  However I did trust that my body was getting better because I quit.  That the oxygen flow was greater throughout my cells.  There are lots of positives that happen when we quit that we're simply unaware of because they're all internal.

As far as cravings - there are many who still had cravings after 100 days.  That's par for the course, I'm afraid.  These are a couple of blogs I wrote a while back, but I'm not really sure if they'll any impact on you given what you've mentioned.  But, maybe something will spark a new thought.   WHEN DOES IT GET EASY??????  and https://excommunity.becomeanex.org/groups/positive-affirmations-and-support/blog/2017/10/24/its-gonn...   But if you're suffering from anhedonia, I would definitely see your health care professional to get some help with that.

A couple of things I picked up off the internet:  "Be childish, curious and interested in new information."   Exercise has been known to help depression.  Stick around.  Read as much as you can.  You never know what's going to set your brain alight and tickle your fancy.  You should real proud of yourself.  120 days is pretty fantastic.  Especially since you haven't felt ANY rewards from your self discipline.  Sometimes it takes some of us longer to 'round that magic corner.  Know that your body is really thanking you for your effort, even if you don't notice.  Hang in.

Welcome and a big congrats on 119 days smoke free.  That's an accomplishment to be proud of!   Sorry to hear that your not feeling better. It is hard to stay motivated when you don't see positive changes.   Have you read about No Man's Land?  You've been in it for a while and make help to explain some of what you're feeling.  Have you experienced depression, anxiety, etc. before or has this happened since you quit smoking?   I know my quit was very emotional with few physical withdrawal symptoms.   It did last for a good while.  I also gained weight and discovered I had developed hypothyroidism (which can be a side effect of quitting), but usually doesn't develop until a year or two after your quit.

You've not only eliminated nicotine from your body, but numerous chemicals.  You're body is going to react--some more than others.

If you don't feel any better, you should consult medical personal.   Smoking can suppress many emotional conditions, such as depression.  When you quit they can rise to the surface.

Hang in there.  It's so worth it in the long run.  Stay close and reach out for support and encouragement.

I found this article:  Understanding Anhedonia: Depression In Early Recovery which might explain a LOT of what you are experiencing.  Depression has physical as well as psychological symptoms.  A visit to a health professional might be in order.  A lot of folks self medicated for depression with nicotine and you might need more than the usual to get some relief.

I would also try to get some exercise and get out and about (even if you don't feel like it).  Fresh air and movement are a Rx for mild depression - and might help you, too.  Exercise will also help with the weight gain.

I am sorry you are struggling so.
