Someone mentioned elsewhere about putting out quit date at the end of our user names.
Is there a way to change the user name to add that date?
Only I can change usernames and it's a cumbersome process. I do it mostly for people who accidentally put their full name or people who had randomly assigned usernames from back in 2009-2010 and are just beginning to use the community now.
I don't recommend doing this. Shorter and sweeter usernames are usually easier to remember and find. Previously there wasn't any way to show others your quit date so people added them to their username in order to display them with their posts. Now the profiles show the quit date as does the hovercard (albeit it's one day off, hopefully the last steps to fix that happen soon).
The other downside is that some people add them and then relapse and then they have the incorrect quit date in their username. While this is a bit of accountability for someone when it is in their username it also has caused some people shame and has lead them away from the site when their username was in their username and then they. There are a couple people I've removed their quit date so they have none.

Thanks. That's what I recall in other iterations of Jive, but didn't know if it had been updated along the way
Also when you add the quit date to the username it makes it long and makes the formatting really odd in some places of the site. I would have a hard time remembering you if you added a number to the end of your name as I know you as DonnaMarie
Mark, this is what I was referring to some months ago when this came up and I wrote to you that your had previously changed mine when I first came to the Ex.. At the time, you said we could change it ourselves. I knew there was something you changed for me. Thought I was losing mind.

Yes with the previous community you could change your username when you wanted and people had duplicate usernames but when we moved the usernames had to be unique so people could be @mentioned and so people could login(if there are duplicates it would prevent you from getting on the site). We messaged people prior to the change to Jive to update their username if they wanted to also since we were adding quit date to profile to putting it in the username wasn't as necessary any more. For people who didn't get it changed or joined the community afterwards, or had a randomly assigned username or people who have no username or people who put something that was inappropriate or people who put a name that was personally identifiable I will help change your username. Once you're established it's best to keep your username. Ultimately you can decide but i'll give you the pros and cons to doing sol
