"A 53-year-old Brandon woman who was upset because she couldn’t find cigarettes* at Hollywood Studios is facing criminal charges ― and a lifetime ban from all Disney World properties ― after she tried to slap a taxi driver and kicked a deputy sheriff, authorities said.
Ellen McMillion was arrested Thursday and charged with third-degree felony battery on a law enforcement officer and one misdemeanor count of disorderly intoxication, court records show. The public defender’s office, which is handling her case, did not immediately comment Monday.
Around 9 p.m., a deputy working at the theme park noticed a commotion at the front of the park, according to an Orange County arrest affidavit.
McMillion raised her arm above her head and tried to slap a taxi driver, the report said. The driver blocked her, but McMillion kept trying to hit him, it said.
The taxi driver, who doesn’t smoke, later told authorities that McMillion had tried to bum a cigarette off him and then became angry that he didn’t have any. Disney World banned smoking at the theme parks May 1.
A security employee who worried McMillion was a threat to other visitors at the park noticed that she struggled to stay on her feet, slurred her words and smelled like alcohol, the report said."
