Is trying e/cigarette considered a slip?
Yikes! I just saw this in my newsfeed right after replying to your post: https://finance.yahoo.com/news/vape-pen-explodes-rips-away-195636638.html
That has been a topic of discussion. Some would say yes and some would say no. Some have used the e-cig to wean themselves from smoking but not using nicotine. Others argue that the behavioral, hand to mouth is not being addressed. You have to do what works for you NOPE by any means necessary is what I say. If you are not using nicotine with e-cig and it is temporary do what works for you.. If it doesn't work you will have to try something else. I have seen people use those and it just seems so unnatural. Do you have a plan?
What do YOU think? What does a cigarette consist of and how do you use it? It consists of a bunch of chemicals, including nicotine. You light it and inhale the properties of it, right? What does an e-cig consist of and how do you use it? Kind of similar, right? What is a slip? Do you consider it a returning to the same or similar emotional and physical activity, habit? If so, then an e-cig is a slip.
From someone who's been abstinent for 13 years, I see it as a slip. You're giving yourself that slight permission of regression. And that permission usually widens in it's parameters with each puff until anything goes. https://excommunity.becomeanex.org/blogs/Giulia-blog/2015/04/09/it-s-not-the-puff-it-s-the-permission
IMHO, only you can decide that. In my case, most definitely. I needed to break the nicotine addiction, so any Nicotine Replacement Therapy (gum, patch, lozenge, e-cig) would only replace one addiction for another. I know some who are successful using the patch. At least that way, you are no longer re-enforcing your hand-to-mouth routine.
