But I'm not smoking over it.
Sorry, they didn't tell me where in Canada.
I think you forgot to mention Marilyn.H.July.14.14.
Is it cold there ...? LOL
Time to get a new credit card company...you were in Australia a few weeks ago...u get around...
It's just my VPN.
It thought I was in Africa 2 weeks ago,
It said I was in Los Angeles the entire past week.
I must be in Vancouver because I just got an email from Car2goVancouver. They're tacking me. LOLOL
Vancouver would definetly be the place to be in Canada with no snow to speak of and the mild temps but we made it up to 41 degrees and it sure feels great.
Wow Dale. A world traveler? You really get around don't you? Well, at least your credit is having a great time
I guess so. Vancouver yesterday, Edmonton today.
I guess I'm working my way East.
I lived in Edmonton for 6 yrs way back in the 80s wow I feel old but Dale since it looks like your moving East in another 3,100 miles or so should put you in my neck of the woods here in NB.
;at the rate I'm going, I should be there in a little over two days. i
Let me know when you arrive in Carleton County and I'll put the coffee on and if you're hungry I'll feed you a lunch.
Why haven’t they cancelled your credit card?
It's my VPN. (virtual private network)
This is what a VPN does. Tells people you're somewhere else.
A smartphone tracks everything (EVERYTHING) you and everyone who has ever called your device.
Everything you buy, everything you do.
So does a computer.
I just don't like that concept.
A VPN prevents it on a computer.
I don't have and won't get a smartphone.
What’s a VPN? I don’t have a smartphone either and don’t want one. Way too much stuff for this dinosaur. My flip phone is fine and I pay as I go. No locked in plans. I guess I’d have one if I had a life.
It gives you privacy on the internet.
They have free ones but I think mine is $3 a month because the free ones are very slow and therefore unreliable.
You can choose countries or let it auto select which is what I do.
All is well.
I was contacted about a class action suit because my "smart" TV has been illegally tracking my activity, I bought one for myself and one for my son when we moved. It's a Vizio, there is nothing smart about it. I have to figure out how to fill out the claim forms...I will have to do one for his and one for mine. It is a VERY SMALL settlement, like around $13 but it does annoy me that my TV has its eye on me.
I have a smart TV but I knew if I was forced to use their browser, they would be tracking me so I never connected the smart part. I just plug my laptop into my TV and use the 4K screen as my monitor. Much better with a 50 inch screen.
The only time I touch my laptop is to turn on the power button. It sits a few feet away on a shelf to my side.
My keyboard and mouse are wireless so I don't need to pound on my laptop all the time with typing.
You can sit in your comfortable chair and kick back instead of being hunched over your laptop.
I think probably all smart TV's track everything your doing. (I have a Vizio too. and I asked them if I could use my own browser and they said only Yahoo. Yahoo's been hacked more times than a bathroom door.
Well, that's just great. I use my laptop...I watch things on TV while I am on the computer. Yes, a big screen would be nice but I am used to this...not liking the hunching though. What a bunch of creeps.
I have a Vizio too. It’s quite old and I dread if I ever have to replace it. It has lots of components hooked to in a rats nest and they are all plug in cords, not the hdmi that is used now. So there would have to be new cords as well with half and half. If my husband was still here, we would have the best as he was a boy with toys and I just reaped the rewards. Now that it’s just me, it’s fine with me without all the new fancy stuff.
I dont get how a TV watches you. Keeping track of what you watch? jonescarp.aka.dale.Jan_2007, would it follow your computer usage to sites and stuff like that? Sure doesn’t seem like a TVs job and who gets this info and for what reason? Sounds rather Big Brotherish.
It is Big Brother. The smart TV that you use with the internet are the ones that track record your internet use.
Smart TV's are getting cheaper.
They will overtake regular HD tv's within 5 years.
jonescarp.aka.dale.Jan_2007, I guess I don’t get why and who this info is given to. Advertisers maybe? Ah well, I’ll stay a dinosaur as long as I can with my old HD.
