The Biggest Loser contest at my work begins today. Who is going to keep me in check? Where are my workout buddies?
I have lost around 20 lbs on WW! Good luck! Keep it interesting!
That's awesome Jen!
You know I am game! Do you have a Fitbit? What are we doing this time? I need to get ready for a 5K. You will win. Just tell me what you want to do. Whoo Hoo!
No, I don't have a Fitbit. What do you want to do? No squats! I HATE squats!
I do like this one.....
That is good. I like the Walking with Simone to start she is on You tube
Do you mean Leslie Sansone?
I like her a lot and was planning on doing her walks!
When do we start? Are you still doing the kick boxing?
Do you want to start tomorrow? I go to the kickboxing when I can. It's only on Saturday mornings so most of the time I have clients.
I do a Leslie Sansone DVD 5 days a week for (OMG) 11 years now.
You must be a work in progress
You must be really in shape is what I was saying. I don't know how work in progress go there. lol
My Fitbit died ---- and so did my ability to walk very far - yet! I am going to PT two days a week and working pretty hard there and trying to get my house back in shape - yet again! I try to get what I believe to be about 5,000 steps a day most days. My hip got very weak over the time I was laid up with the wrist/elbow.......
Work in progress - but I l will be happy to cheer you all on from the sidelines!!!
You’ll be up and running in no time!
Oh,my, but I do hope so. This constant recovery is absolutely on my last nerve.
is this okay or do you have another suggestion is fine with me.

I don’t think the link is working.
I think it is fixed now. There was another one I was trying to paste but it is not showing up. I will let you decide on it.
Take it easy, you will get there. Sometimes God just wants us to sit down.

JACKIE1-25-15 Is this what you’re looking for?
Did you know that Bob Harper from the TV Biggest Loser had a heart attack? I was so shocked!!! I really loved him as a coach. I was a huge fan of the biggest loser during my first quit years. I think I could identify so much with those people because an addiction is an addiction. And, of course, I think addiction to eating is the worst....because you HAVE to eat.....you can't just say NOPE.
Kristen and Jackie - Thanks for this Discussion! I did a 2 mile walk with Leslie this afternoon since it was raining here! Loved it!
I did not walk with Leslie today. I failed the first day!! Haha. I worked and then shoveled for my parents. I was beat.
Don't feel bad. I did not get in either but I did get out to rake leaves. I also set up an EXercise area.
Well guys (and recent research addresses this), you don't lose weight from exercising unless you're a professional athlete. It's what you eat. I've been dieting my entire life having lost 100 lbs in my mid 20's without exercising. I'm having a real hard time losing the weight I've gained from quitting. As I said, I do Leslie 5 days a week (2 miles) , I walk 1 1/2 - 2 miles 7 days a week (no matter what the weather) and do stretching and weight bearing exercise 2 times a week. I would also take Cloud back out for a short walk to accommodate her. And, I do lots of physical work around the house. I've haven't not lost an ounce. Right now I'm on a soft food diet due to dental work. That hasn't helped either. Anyway, I know it's what's I put in my mouth. They say we replace one addiction for another. Food for cigarettes????
Of course there are great benefits from exercising. Otherwise I wouldn't do it.
One article (there are more) Why exercise won't make you lose weight - CNN
Research indicates weight lost is 80% intake and 20% Exercise. Is Weight Loss Really 80 Percent Diet and 20 Percent Exercise? | Women's Health . Here on article of many. metabolism in your 20's can be quite different than now. As we age the body metabolism slows down. We can no longer eat the same type of food when we were younger. When I was younger I could lose weight very quickly. Now it takes a lot more time and changing the lifestyle since we are more sedentary.
Good luck...I already work out and watch my weight, always was a part of my life ...
Maybe you can give ups some tips.
Only by Gods grace - i walk at home with Leslie Sansone dvd - doing miracles miles now- i been with Leslie dvds for NINE YEARS NOW in MY Lord Jesus name and thank God for MY Holy Comforter who keeps ME following His lead to keep ME walking and i do OUR bowflex machine at home 3Xs a week for FOUR YEARS! Praising God and thanking Him for His love and tender mercies on ME cuz I AM LAZY!!!!!
I actually lost 30+ lbs. in advance of quitting to prevent this weight gain. I guess it would be a lot worse if I hadn't, but that didn't work.
One thing we can probably all agree on is that there are over one million articles, thesis, research papers etc. on How to Lose Weight! One will contradict the other.....and that must be SO frustrating for people who are trying to lose weight. In My Opinion Only.........the problem is that people tend to "read" what they want, interpret things as they want......EXAMPLE----an article will say exercise doesn't help-----so people "mis-read" that and continue to be couch potatoes. ANOTHER EXAMPLE-----if we asked even just this small group what exercising means we would get all different answers. When people ask if I exercise....I define it as...well, I don't know what you mean as exercise. Here is what I do:
I walk 30 minutes every day
I spend about 10-15 minutes every day with weights (SMALL HAND WEIGHTS IN MY HOME) just because I think it keeps my arms toned.
I don't take elevators or escalators unless I don't have a choice.....I use the stairs.
In a large store parking lot, I park far away so that I have to walk
And, of course I am "blessed"(???) with a two story home and a basement laundry room.......so I get a lot of exercising just staying at home doing laundry or cleaning.
I think exercising (ANY EXERCISING) makes you feel better about yourself......and when you feel better about yourself you can accomplish other things. Look at how great we all felt about quitting smoking and MOST of us have said it helped us to accomplish many other things.
Certainly wasn't my point that I read what I want. There are "plenty" of articles about this now. Mine is from experience also!
Sorry Barb----didn't mean YOU. I was using a "general people" and not meaning you.
I agree there is lots of research and opinion both ways. And I respect the fact that yours is personal experience.
My only point on this was just a general comment that some people-----not meaning you-----do only "read what they want" about weight loss..........not necessarily with regard to exercising but with regard to everything connected to weight loss.
People will read Special K for breakfast can help with weight loss.......but not if you eat heavy calories the rest of the day
People will read that x,y, or z food can boost your metabolism and help you lose weight.......but they don't think that means you still have to eat sensibly
I've seen all of the above and more in friends, family and co workers.........that was all I meant.
kristen-9.7.15 How are you? Sorry but I haven't forgotten you. I just had a slooooow start. lol getting up to speed now. Arm Challenge is done. Did a few crunches and....SQUATS. Could not help myself. Let's do it.
JACKIE1-25-15 Ugh. I am failing miserably. I only did 3 days of week one of Walking with Leslie. I am so not motivated this time around!
We can do it. Come on one step at a time. Whoo Hoo.
I want to join you in my own way (like I do everything ). I haven't "exercised" since I started this physically-draining job 10 months ago. Standing on your feet for hours at a time is tiring, but it is NOT exercise. I want to do 20 minutes a day, nothing radical, just walking and using weights with my arms, which are starting to look sad. I can use videos inside if it's raining (no excuse) and I already have plenty of handheld weights (which I really have never used), so no excuse there either. I have the pages torn out of the magazine for the arm exercises. I just need to BEGIN to get the habit going. I know I will feel better. I only have 7 pounds to lose to reach my goal weight by my birthday (April 29).
I "started" yesterday by pruning my small trees. Today I will rake leaves and probably will do that til it rains on Friday, when I will do weights. I JUST NEED TO BEGIN TO DO SOMETHING. I've always been a walker but my habits really got messed up when I broke my leg, but that was FOUR years ago. I need to get back on track or I will regret it.
