Are there quit apps for computers?

Hi there - I've been reading and researching voraciously in trying to prepare for my quit date of 1/1/19.  A number of websites have mentioned  "quitting apps" as helpful.  However, in following up on them, they all appear to be for a smartphone.  Unfortunately, I only have (and need) my trusty old flip phone.  But am wondering if there aren't apps out there that can be run on my laptop.  If anyone has some info on this, I would be very grateful.  Regards, Rosemary

You found it, in my opinion!  This place has everything you need to achieve your goal!  Tons of material to read from members to specialist from the Mayo Clinic!  I am on day 95 with the help of Chantix and everyone here at BecomeanEX.com!  You can do it and we can help

I too am planning on using Chantix.  Can you tell me which method you used, ie the fixed quit,  the flexible quit or the gradual quit.  Why did you choose it and how is it working? Congratulations on your 95 days!! Regards, Rosemary

Thanks Rosemary!  I chose a quit date 3 weeks after starting Chantix.  They (doctors) tell you to take it for a week then quit.  I wasn't ready yet.  That's why I like Chantix because I could continue smoking while taking it with no ill effect.  Once my quit date rolled around, I quit and didn't look back.  Chantix makes it easier to quit but the hard work is still on the quitter and some days are HARD, I won't lie but it's working!  You'll notice yourself cutting down w/o even trying and it made them taste awful making all the more easier to give up!  I also tracked my smoking in a journal.  I noted how I felt or why I felt the need for a cigarette.  I would set a goal of how many cigarettes I would smoke that day and try my hardest to stick to it.  First I would try and go an hour between smokes, then 2 and so on.  Once I made it to my smoke time, I'd see if I could go just a little longer.  It's working wonderful for me!

Thank you for the info on chantix.  I feel the same about it as you said.  I plan to stay on the .5 mg for 1 week, then 2x per day for another week, then 1mg 2x day for 1 week, then quit.  I also plan to wear the patch. You can probably tell that this scares the hell out of me, but I am committed on doing it. In the meantime, I'm doing the cut down thing and keeping track similar to you.  Sometimes I'm surprised at how long I go without thinking about having a cig, and other times I want one within half an hour.  This addiction is really something else...baffling and dangerous.

Regarding quitting apps, I'm going to follow the consensus and stay right here on Ex.  I also did go to why quit and am watching some of the videos there.  Thanks again everyone for your help and suggestions.  Regards, Rosemary

I agree with SaraCorinne .  I tried a couple of apps on my smart phone at first, but this site was so much more helpful, I found myself coming here more and more, and the apps less and less until I finally just deleted them.

But if you really want more, many of the members here also used a website called whyquit.com.  It also has a lot of valuable info.
