did anyone use the electric cig to quit smoking

electric sigarette is not quitting smoking, it is just a different way of drug delivery.

\\my mom wouldn't quit till s he found the electronic cig and those little tubes that have something puff if you do it too much gives me head aches same for the electronic cigs.

While I guess e-cigarettes are not as dangerous as regular ones, science has not yet finished doing studies on them.  From what I have read so far: 1) the vapor has been compared to the polluted air in Bejing on a bad day, 2) they just provide another nicotine delivery system while continuing the hand to mouth smoking motion, and 3) the batteries can spontaneously catch on fire.  The mixture heated in them has been shown to cause Popcorn Lung.  You can do a search on the web for information on them.

You both would be better off using the patch - imho.

I used an e-cig with 0 nicotine ONLY if I was about to blow my quit.  I rarely used it but it did save me a time or two.  I don’t recall getting headaches
