A Greedy Man Insisted He Be Buried With All His Money.
As a loving woman who intended to hold true to her wedding vows, his wife did not object to the request.
The man passed on and his wife went about making arrangements for his funeral and to fulfill his request. On the day of the funeral, she sat in the front row with her best friend. Just before the casket’s lid was to be closed, she placed a shoe box inside the casket.
Perplexed by her action, the friend asked, “I hope you weren’t crazy enough to put all that money in there with that stingy old man.” To which the widow replied, “Yes, I promised. I’m a good Christian; I can’t lie. I promised him that I was to put that money in that casket with him.”
Not believing what the widow had just said, the friend rephrased her question, and asked, “You mean to tell me you put every cent of his money in the casket with him?”
The wife reiterated that she did. Then she added that, “I got it all together, put it into my account, and I wrote him a check.”
