Not so sure that those in the path of those tornadoes would call it great. I have ALWAYS wanted to see a tornado, I am sure it is related to the Wizard of Oz...I USED to have very vivid dreams of tornadoes and I would always say that I could not believe I was finally getting to see one. So weird.
elvan I want to see one too. I used to storm chase, got trained, but I never saw one. I don't do it anymore.
Yeah, one touched down about 20 miles SW of us and a 2nd one about 10 miles SE of us. Still windy and peas falling from the sky, but no power outage at home. The one 10 miles SE snapped some power lines so they are without. My roommate was out planting corn about 45 minutes and I have no idea where he is, plus his brother and his wife were traveling today in areas of the storm..I just don't like not knowing where everyone is...
No desire here to see one. Reminds me of one that hit just a few days before I quit smoking about 5 miles from where I lived at the time. I saw the devastation and it was heart breaking. They certainly are fascinating - but lives are changed forever in a minute. I remember that evening well - stepped out on the balcony for a smoke - and I could feel it in the air. Hard to explain - but the air just felt odd. Here is a story of the outbreak from April 27- 30, 2014. The one closest to me was Mayflower, Arkansas on the 27th. I believe 16 lives were lost in Arkansas.

jonescarp.aka.dale.Jan_2007 There is something magnificent about them but I can certainly understand Jennifer-Quit-05-01-14's reaction too. We had tornadoes not far from us a couple of weeks ago and the devastation was horrible, homes disappeared. My heart goes out to anyone who has to restart a life, I know what that's like...
I saw something on CBS news tonight, something they called Kermit, I think, they were monitoring super cells to be able to give faster warnings to people on the ground. I think it was inside of a helicopter, it was NOAA, it was really intriguing.
OKAY, they say this is going to be the last day of storms for awhile so if you're interested, they are out there for the next 3-4 hours.
