I understand your fear. We were all scared of quitting before we did it. That's the addiction talking. But you've already mentioned your desire to be free! Use that as a shiny beacon to help you to your brighter future. As Marilyn said, read all you can. The knowledge is here for the taking as well as a quit program on the main page.

You won't regret your decision to quit. The peace and freedom felt after losing an addiction is nothing short of incredible!

I look forward to hearing of your success!!

ONWARD TO FREEDOM!!!

You have come to the right place for a new day and a new beginning.. This is all about you and what you are willing to do to be smoke free. Quitting smoking requires hard work.  It can be challenging at times but you will learn that it is doable if you adhere to NOPE not one puff ever no matter what.

Start first, by educating yourself about nicotine addiction.

Education is the key to a successful quit.

Read: Freedom from Nicotine My Journey Home and Nicotine Addiction 101

Here are the links: http://whyquit.com/whyquit/LinksAAddiction.html   and http://whyquit.com/ffn/

I also encourage you to read. Allen Carr’s book, “Easy Easier Way to Quit Smoking”.

Hiadoolalyounany .  Marilyn, Chuck, and Jackie have given you wonderful suggestions and support.  I'll add some as well.  Take your quit one day at a time.  If that is overwhelming break it down to the hour or minute.  Stay close to this community and you will receive support and encouragement.

We ALL wanted what you want, the only way out is through...there are no shortcuts.  Education is the key component to a successful quit...you bring the commitment and we will give you support and help you on your journey.  Quitting IS a journey, it is not an event and it is one day at a time, one step at a time.  Read everything you can about nicotine addiction and stay close to the site.
