Looking for a previous letter

When I quit in the winter of 2013, someone recommended that I read a letter/document.  I remember a name from it, "Carl".  It focused on quitting cold turkey and the myth surrounding nicotine withdrawl-- primarily the myth is that it's much worse than the actual reality.  That was THE thing that turned me around in the beginning.  I don't know how to look for it on here.  Does anyone know?

Hi and Welcome!  Most around here recommend Alan Carr's Easy Way to Quit Smoking.  That book does focus on quitting cold turkey and the book discusses that noone died from nicotine withdrawal.  I highly recommend the book.

There is a PDF of it online, but I am not able to link to it for you.

I did do a search on Carl and nicotine withdrawal but didn't come up with some of the specifics you mentioned.  There is an eye glass in the upper right hand side of the screen and it allows you to search on this site.

Hi

Look at your previous posts ==> jceleski.   I assume you meant Carr and not Carl.  As roller831‌ mentions Carr’s book cannot be linked here for copyright infringement but you can purchase the book a number of ways digitally for a nominal fee.

YES!  Thank you, that's it.  Carr

You can take out his book from your local library and I suspect it is available on most book sites...I took it out from the library and read it a little while after I had quit.  I found some parts of it to be really helpful.  Are you quit now or are you quitting again?  Good to hear from you whatever the case.

I have it in e-book format and keep it at the ready on my phone and on my Kindle reader on my laptop.

Mark‌, is linking to a PDF considered a copyright violation if it's not a paid-for PDF? I thought it was in Google books or some other free form online.

Regardless, jceleski‌, it's the best book going IMHO. My library has it in hard copy and e-book formats.

Correct that would be a violation. Uploading the PDF to the website is also not permitted. If you see it anywhere. Please let us know by marking the post as abuse.

The book is not available free anywhere, even Google Books as far as I know. Also iTunes and Amazon. With some books on Amazon you can share the eBook version of some books.

From Allen's Website

It’s such a shame that so many people are searching for counterfeit/pirated Allen Carr books on the internet when we’ve ensured that you can buy a copy on the links below for less than a pack of smokes (in most cases with free delivery to anywhere in the world).

Thanks! I wasn't sure and now I know. It's easy enough to get on Amazon and not cost prohibitive, considering especially all the money one saves when using his method   I even considered taking one of their online seminars. I haven't totally ruled it out, but right now, am doing okay with just the book.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but the Spitzer book seems to be offered for free.  http://whyquit.com/joel/ntap.pdf  - the only caveat is that  the following notice must accompany it if the content itself (and not just the link) is presented:  "Copyright © Joel Spitzer, 2003. This book or any portion thereof may be freely distributed in either electronic or print form so long as no charge is made for it, and so long as this notice remains with any significant portion of the work when distributed. That's good but probably would be better to link to Joel's Quit Smoking Library so that if the link changed or if he put up a new version that you could still find it.
