Give and get support around quitting
One of my favorite pastimes on a lazy Sunday afternoon is watching old movies. My favorites are the Charlie Chan mysteries or Nick and Nora, the Slim Man. It's funny how much everyone smoked in those movies, even Sherlock Holmes. When I was smoking like a chimney, I never even thought about it. Now that I no longer do such a thing, I pick up on it a lot now. Here's some of my favorites I found strolling through the Internet one day. And, yes, they are all labeled for reuse................
And then the advertisements...........
Feel free to stop over at the Freedom Train sometime today and shout out those days of freedom.... https://excommunity.becomeanex.org/community/celebrations-events/blog/2017/12/09/freedom-train-12920...
Have you watched Mad Men? They smoke AND drank in the office - at home, in their cars, probably. It was a wild time of excess in our history.
nope, never watched those. I'll have to look into that
Netflix, I think. It's about a NY ad agency in the 50's. Good show - told the tale of the day when the admen RULED our buying choices with their catchy turns of phrase and the cutthroat nature of that business. Of the beginning of the suburbs and the subculture of the haves and want to be's. I didn't finish all the seasons - might have to go back and do that!

Thanks for the reminder!!! SUCH a good series but I take lo.o.o.ng breaks between episodes - Their incessant smoking doesn't make me crave, it actually makes me feel ill. But I still love the series. Authentic sets, styling and costumes. I still have to finish Season 6 and then the final season 7..
Try to watch if you can. xxxx
I watched a few episodes but it was not long after I quit and I did not handle them well. I think they were too much like real life. Everywhere I went, there were smokers...everywhere, including doctors in the hospitals. It was really a way of life. That show was amazing and I might be able to handle it now. I have been watching Stranger Things with my step grandson...I am going to drop that step thing... he is my grandson and I love him and I feel no necessity to label him. There is a lot of smoking in Stranger Things and rather than making me want a cigarette, it annoys me that the characters are doing that...like I am one to judge ANYONE...for ANYTHING. Smoking was part of life, it was part of movies, ads featuring celebrities, it was everywhere, I am so glad that it isn't any more.
