  I guess I am not doing it right.
  I did my preferences in the drop down box of my avatar and checked no and no. and
  then I go back and it goes back to yes and yes for not wanting it to go to my personal e-mail.

Did you click on the SAVE icon at the bottom of the page after making the changes. Scroll down and you've find it.
