Today is the day! Anyone else quitting today? I haven't decided if I'm gonna run up and get some lozenges. Thinking cold turkey is best. No more expense.

Congratulations on day one and making the decision to quit smoking. You have come to the right place for a new day and a rebirth. This is all about you and what you are willing to do to be smoke free. Quitting smoking requires hard work. It can be challenging at times but you will learn that it is doable if you adhere to NOPE not one puff ever no matter what.
Start first, by educating yourself about nicotine addiction. Education is the key to a successful quit.

Fresher1 Congratulations on beginning this journey. DO pay attention to the advice above, do blog and stay close to the site. I was here first thing in the morning and every evening. It helped me to start and end my day on a positive note. Read blogs, read how others are doing and if you ever feel threatened...put the word HELP in the subject of your blog. Someone will have either just been there or be headed there and you will get lots of help and support. We all want you to be successful, whatever method you use. I had lozenges but I never used them...I quit cold aka SMART turkey. I expected to have some difficult times but I also expected them to pass and I expected to begin to feel stronger. I did not expect to grow emotionally and that has been an amazing bonus! I have found out who the person hiding behind the cigarettes was. You are in for a really amazing journey, we are here to help you stay buckled in on the ride.
Welcome to EX,
Ellen
Today is my quit day. I am using the patch. It is the nicotine I am addicted to. I used Chantix for 6 months and quit smoking for 5 of those months but when I stopped the drug I still wanted the nicotine. I put the patch on yesterday and today have had no cigs...yes I want one but I will try my hardest not to smoke one.

WOW - what a group of June quitters!! Fresher1, bvaux34, fedupwithunfit, akerwin10, dkr953, and ready2021 - Welcome to all of you! Hope your first few days are going okay, just keep busy, divert your attention, drink water, suck on cinnamon sticks, straws, chew gum, whatever it takes. If there's anything we can do to help, let us know.

I'm hanging in there too. Using the nicotine lozenges....one every couple hours. I sure want a cigarette...but Like someone said....not one puff ever! I'm making this quit work this time!

This is really exciting, to see all of you quitting and supporting each other at the same time. You can share what you are feeling and celebrate your victories together. We are all here to help in any way that we can. Remember NOPE, Not One Puff Ever! That was my mantra after smoking for 47 years. I have been free for over three years!
Ellen
Congrats! I too quit yesterday. I have thought about it for a long time, even the television commercials were making feel bad for smoking. When I had a friend post her 100th day of not smoking I knew I could do this too. I ordered a non nicotine product from Amazon and decided to give it a try. I'm not sure if the product helps or I was simply determined to quit (I have quit in the past - 40 year smoker). I feel as though it has been too easy, I'm waiting for the cravings to start. I wish all of you great success!!!!
Hi. Feeling grouchy. Wanting to smoke. Almost started thinking this is a bad idea but stopped myself. I want to quit smoking. I have quit smoking. Tomorrow is day 5 already! Gotta make it thru tonight still. I did wake up at 3:00 in the morning. I guess my sleep is off some. Going on a camping trip with a bunch of people this weekend.....smokers....won't be the easiest. That's about all for now. Hopefully this mood passes.
Holly
I think I use the same stuff you did or you are I took effort to five days didn't need anymore you've got this that stuff is weird but it works I like the fact it was non-nicotine best of luck remember one day at a time
I'm simply amazed at how easy this as been for me so far, I'm waiting (and scared) for something to change at any moment!! I'm a big coffee drinker and was apprehensive about drinking coffee and not being able to smoke, but that too has worked great so far. I used 6 of the strips on Monday & Tuesday and have only used 3 so far today. I have dental surgery tomorrow so I'm hoping I won't feel the need to use them. The only downside has been that I haven't slept well for the last 2 nights, I'm hoping that will change with time!!
Congratulations to each of you on your splendiforous quits, keep moving forward and stacking up your precious smoke free days.
More like smoke free hours. going by the minute at this point.

You all sound great and I LOVE that you are supporting each other. Lulu04 and Fresher1 and bookee6 Hooray for newbies!
Sleep disruptions are common at the beginning of a quit. I also found that I am MUCH more sensitive to caffeine since I stopped smoking...you might find that as well and want to cut caffeine starting in the afternoon.
Good luck with the dental surgery.
Thank you. It went well, although my oral surgeon decided not to do the gum graph today as he felt he had done enough work for one day!! At this time, I'm still making it though this process of quitting without any issues. My children are in awe that I seem unphased because I have quit though the years, but it was VERY difficult and never lasted more than a year. I don't know how to explain this except I was very determined, I have experienced how socially unacceptable it is, it is unhealthy, costly, and the list goes on.
Lulu04 So glad things went well at the dentist. You absolutely would not want to be smoking now...it would make healing much more difficult. I, too, began to concentrate on the negatives and there were a LOT of them, I couldn't come up with anything they did FOR me but I have lots and lots of evidence of what they did TO me. Good for you...you can do this, you ARE doing this.
Ellen
Fresher1 You count from when you stopped...you set your quit date when you are not smoking. NOPE (Not One Puff Ever) is not just a saying, it's a way of living. You can do this, don't be afraid to come back, never quit quitting.
Ellen
Be prepared to be antsy and uncomfortable but you will be fine! Busy is better! Also BLOG BLOG BLOG! It will help you get through the day! Best Wishes!
