Am finishing up day 2 of my quit. Today was tough at work - lots of cravings during the times when I would usually take a smoke break - but was able to get through it. Woohoo.
Just wanted to let everyone know that I relapsed with one puff, got sick, and am back...Don't think I will do that again.....My new date is set for tomorrow, since this just happened, Thanks for your support and on my way with hell week again.
How awesome to see new faces, There is no better decision then to quit smoking and Chantix is the drug that will help you the most, But the best thing you can do is be in a small group like this. Just remember Chantix can help but you have to do the work, It makes the caves workable. Post as often as you need . Spunkie thanks for the dance. Im thankful of all the support here One year went fast.
I'm very afraid of starting Chantix from the side effects and sites i've seen on the suicide rate and depression factors of those taking it - if any body who's been taking it can offer me some personal opinions i'd appreciate that.
Kim, I quit smoking after 21 years using Chantix. Please do not allow other's horror stories preventing you from doing what you need to do to save your life. I highly suggest you try Chantix; if it doen't work out for you, you can stop taking the pills. Chantix saved my life. I could not have quit without it. Good luck!
Hi, I have been smoke free for 3 days now. Today is my 4th day. Doing great. No cravings. I do get sick from the pill but I deal with it. Some interesting dreams but not every night. The later I take the last pill the more vivid the dreams. I hope I do not gain much weight. There is a Zumba class I'm joining. I'm going to try it out Nov 17 and see if I like it. Dance/aerobic class. I have been lifiting 10 lb weights every night at home. I hope to get in shape now not smoking. I'm small but need to tone.My husband still smokes. We always smokesdoutside so it has been ok.It has been nice here but getting cold this weekend . Will be glad not to be outside smoking..I really feel good about this quit..Asked pabout sucide and other adverse side effects. She has not experienced anyone having those. she thinks you would have to have tedencies prior.Good luck everyone. Cindy
Well tomorrow Nov. 8th is my quit date. I've had it set for a few weeks now and have been trying to separate myself from triggers. I've gone from 30 cigarettes a day to about 10 (but granted it took a lot of work and time). I started Chantix on Nov. 1st. I've noticed my cravings have subsided. Although I'm SO ANXIOUS about tomorrow. Thought it would be best to quit on weekend when I'm not dealing with stress of work! Only side effects I've noticed of Chantix is that every night I've had a lot of dreams. Nothing bad or too strange - in fact I love analyzing dreams so I can tell you why I had each one.....it's just odd for me to have so many EVERY night. Good luck to you all!!!
Hi all, I started on Chantix 7 days ago. I set my quit date for November 15 and today is the first day I am having difficulties. I started the pills and immediately noticed the cravings were less and was able to cut my smoking in half right away. Today, this is all I can think of and really struggling with not smoking more than my quota.
Today is day 15 of taking Chantix and day 7 without a smoke.... Starting on a weekend was good for me. I no longer "Need" a cig like I did after a long flight or big meal.... At work I get up once an hour or so to have a smoke and realize that I threw them away and don't have any.... so I sit down and continue what I was doing.... Its not easy... but its not as hard as I always thought it would be.... The dreams are the only side effects.... and I eat alot....but hopefully I will always be smoke free.... GOOD LUCK
Hi, Became a non smoker11-09-10. Using Chantix, on my 2nd wk. Some side effects, mostly having to do w/dreaming altho' have become itchy in the last 2 days. I suppose that could be the weather---BURrrrrrr. This is my second attempt getting the monkey off my back. 1st time was cold turkey,,,it lasted 10mos. I could blame others for my downfall and believe me I do, but I am the one who lit that cig and satisfyling inhaled deeply It was at a party, this time around I decided to go the meds route. So far so good, it (Chantix) does remove cravings for me at least. And I have ck.ed in w/web site daily, but that part actually makes me crave smoking more.....By theway I've decided not tospeak o fthe whole sordid affair again. Thanks for being here and alowing me to work through these frustrations. I'm sure I'll be back!!! Donna
Dewayne, I was scared too and I don't know what I was scared of. So far, the Chantix is agreeing with me and taking my cravings away. What more can you ask for!!! Good luck everyone.
I am on my 20th day of chantix. I have been smoke free for 12 days. I do not want to become to dependent on pills.... So I have begun to ween off of it... I am taking only one a day until they run out... I am not going to renew my prescription for 2 more months. I personally feel that this drug has done its job and got me through the first 2 most difficult weeks.... Its not going to get any easier from here out so I may as well do it on my own without pills.... I do not know if this is a good idea or not... only time will tell... I pray it does... Its not about the side effects... I just am starting to believe that if I am going to be smoke free for the rest of life it should be without pills and patches... so I may as well start as soon as possible....
Wish you luck Michael in getting off the pills early. I have had two friends so far who tried the same thing and found it too difficult and got back on. I know you sound very determined and that is super and wishing you lots of luck.
good luck i was in your shoes back i april, quit my chantix thought i could do it on my own after about 3 weeks was back in same boat as before heart attack at 52 in jan of 08, really need to quit gone back tomy chantix and an glad i did. goodluck to you and yours we all need to help each other
My plan of taking only one a day is tougher than I thought... I am taking it after lunch... I do feel better and do not think about smoking after I take it... I did not get a chance to take one yesterday until 7pm and I got a glimpse of how hard its going to be when the pills run out... its almost like quitting for a second time.
