I really want a cigarette, haven't smoked in 96 days, at this point I don't care.
Don't do it. You have close to 100 days - please don't throw that away. Do something to distract yourself - maybe a shower?
96 days is great! You don't want to throw that away, do you? Of course not!! Distract yourself. Go to bed! Shower as Jen suggested. Anything! It does get easier.
Please don't throw your precious quit away because at this moment you might not care but believe me you will regret throwing the best gift that you'll ever give yourself which is the gift of LIFE a much better quality of life but you must keep moving forward because the days are going to get easier and easier with time and you are almost to the TDC, chin up and take a shower or a soak in the tub but hang on tight to your quit. katherineu ,you can do this quit one precious smoke free day at a time or one hour or even one minute or if need be one second but you must stick with your quit.
I am SO sorry I missed this! I hope you are still holding firm! There is NEVER a good reason to smoke - there are only excuses. What is going on that you want to give in? Can I help? You can pm me if you don't want to discuss publicly (just click on my picture, get to my page, then to Actions (top right) and that pull down has a choice to send a message. No one else will see it.
If you are just tired of the struggle, methinks you are fighting this quit. Remember your reading (I hope you did it) ---- you aren't giving up ONE thing by not smoking. All the things you thought you gave up are LIES that the addiction tells us. You can get the dopamine that you felt by eating a bit of chocolate, or with any form of exercise (even marching in place)! Get busy! Remember - you are not giving ANYTHING up by not smoking; there is nothing to miss. The only thing you will gain by smoking is disgust at yourself for giving up so close to the easiest part of your journey.
PLEASE DON'T SMOKE!
Hi Katherine! How are doing now? Come talk to us!
Hey Katherine. Pleasse stick with us. You are so close to 100 days, Awe don't choose to give into the nicodemon dude. The Nico dude lies to us. Smoking won't do anything but make things worse. I hope you have hng in there. Let us know how your doing.
Looks like this was put in Best of EX on accident. Moved it to Conversations so you get visibility to the most community help katherineu.

katherineu You DO care, you came here, that is the best thing you can do BEFORE you light up. This is a journey and you are in NML, it is a tough place. What is it that you think will be better if you smoke? What has your addiction told you? You are NOT alone, you have all of us caring about you and wanting so much to welcome you to the Triple Digit Club and then on from there. I so hope that you did not smoke...I also hope that if you did, you will not smoke again. You cannot expect this to be easy, you are an addict...a junkie, just like the rest of us. It's NOT easy!
How are you now? I'm just seeing this we are here for you! There is nothing in looking back I promise I tried to over and over and OVER again there is nothing good in it! Please get you some chocolate or maybe the burst from a soda those things aren't healthy but I'm sure used in moderation it's alot healthier than smoking. Wet your hands wash dishes, mop, wipes walls get busy there's plenty to do to get pass this!
Go back and read read read all the info again about the addiction! We all knew this was going to be hard when we first quit, go back to that fighting feeling, the feeling you had when you were so fed up of the gosh darn yucky taste and the way you coughed, the way you got out of breathe real quick when trying to do something! Go to whyquit.com and watch the videos of all the beautiful souls who died because of this ****** poison called cigarettes! sending you lots of hugs!
Hope you fought the stinking thinking off, YOUR BETTER THAN THAT!!!! Come on now, you know what to do....read read....stay here, stay focused. You don't want to start over, your doing great
Thank you all for the response, no I did not smoke. I am going through some depression and having problems in my marriage. I think I want to smoke but I have not done so. I keep that in my mind, you think you do but you don't and your body is not addicted anymore just get through the day and it will pass. However, I did read other stories last night night after I posted my drama message and I did feel better.
Thank you all for the support, you don't know how much it means, God Bless you all!
Whew thank goodness!
Aww I'm so glad for you. You persevered and overcame the "I don't care" feelings.
They're worse than the "I need to smoke NOW" feelings.
Well done you girl!
So glad to hear you protected your quit! Hang in there and always remember you're a beautiful soul who deserves nothing but happiness!
So happy to hear you made it through! Sorry to hear about your personal troubles. Everything will turn out the way it is supposed to be. Great job beating the crave!
So glad you're hanging in there katherineu!! I didn't see this posting until this morning and was hoping it wasn't too late. Sorry you're having personal issues, but obviously you realized that smoking wasn't going to solve anything! You'll be a member of the TDC very soon!
Whew so glad to didn't give in to the Nico dude. For me I think it is normal to think of smoking when you are in a life crisis because we handled our crisis for years with a cigarette in hand. But since we don't do that anymore we have to learn other coping skills and we know smoking will not make our situation better, it will make it worse. Grat job kicking that crave butt Katherine.
katherineu I am SO HAPPY to hear that you did not give up your quit and have to go back to day one. Smoking will not lift your depression, it would likely make it much worse and obviously, it is not going to help with marital issues. I think we have all been there smoking or not smoking. It does NOTHING for you, only TO you and the things it does are irreversible...no crave ever killed anyone but no one can say the same thing about smoking!
I could not be happier for you, you are three days away from the Triple Digit Club. I was so proud of that, I wanted to wear a party hat to work but I realized it would probably not be well received. I settled on a homemade pin that I wore all day long, it said I quit smoking 100 days ago and I had the logo and web address of becomeanex on the "pin". I got lots of congratulations, most from nonsmokers but I didn't care, I was SO PROUD and you can be too.
Good job! Glad you you made it through!
Hooray! Did you know that milestones can actually be triggers? You are approaching 100 days - I want to see you on the other side of this very important milestone! Life can be challenging - smoking is not required!
Hang tough, stay close, protect your quit. 4 more days and you will be in the triple digits.
Sorry I sis not see this sooner but I am so glad you made it through that test !!! You passed with flying colors ! It will make you stronger for the next as quitting is a challenge and life itself is like a roller coaster ride ! hang in there !
