Dale-

We don't have email confirmation as part of our registration process currently. Though with the availability of disposable email addresses having email confirmation wouldn't necessarily solve the problem.  Catch-all email addresses could be used as well.  Email confirmation wouldn't solve very much sadly.   We're looking at our options.

Wow we sure are under attack, I don't ever  recall this happening on the old site but you always kept an eye out for Spam and warned us of potential Spammers!

Do spambots have the smarts to do email confirmation requirement before they could post if we did have it?

The attacks yesterday and the day before were spambots.

It certainly would have prevented those attacks.

How do you know they were spambots? Have you checked out our current registration process? It definitely requires a "human" to get on to the community. It wasn't spam bots. It's people.

because they were posting too quickly and filling up the boards with spam faster than a human?

A human had to have registered.  Could they have used some automation after getting on the community?  Possibly, but things weren't so quick that it couldn't have been accomplished by a human. They're still here but our tools are working to keep them at bay for now. Since I came aboard, I haven't seen any attack that appears to be fully automated.
