One year anniversary.

Tomorrow is my one year anniversary of not smoking! I can truly say that I could’ve never done it without the people on this website. I literally live on the website day and night for the first six months.  Now I rarely go to the website but that’s OK. It was there when I needed them!

Yesterday  we buried my husband after the celebration of life a year and a half  after he died. It was perfect and I am now at more peace.

I can honestly say that I did want a cigarette several times as the first year anniversary approach but I think it was a combination of saying goodbye to my husband and still trying to correct my hip surgery. I did not give in and I never will.

just employed my breathing with the freedom on the Xhale and always the words not one cigarette ever.   It always works for me and I am so grateful I found what works for me.  You will too if you do it day by day, and sometimes hour by hour. But it is all worth the effort.  Thank you thank you thank you!

I cannot thank all these people on the this website enough.❤️❤️ To all of you.

Congratulations on your one year quit.  I too have nothing but gratitude for the people on this site.  It literally made my permanent quit possible.  My prayers and blessings to you as you start your journey w/o your partner.  I wish you the best.

SO happy to see you! Glad, too, that you came back to celebrate with us!

I am honored to present you with the golden key to the 6% Club (statistics show only about 6% of people who quit smoking remain quit after a year).  It is a BIG deal!

@Trisha76  Congrats on one year.   I know how much I looked forward to celebrating my first year.  It's a fabulous achievement that you should be so proud of.  Sorry you had to wait so long to find closure with your husband.  That had to have been terribly difficult, but I'm glad you've found some peace.

So proud of you that you haven't smoked through it all.

Welcome to the community @qweenie stay close and read everything you can because there's a wealth of information right here on this site to strengthen your resolve to kick the nicotine poison to the curb permanently it's not easy by any stretch of the imagination BUT with commitment and perseverance you will be stacking up your precious DOF ~ Days Of Freedom so each evening you can say YAY for another Day WON! BUT first you need a quit date and maybe you've already done that. When your quit arrives keep your mind as well as your hands occupied and at the end of the day you'll be able to say YAY for Day WON.....

Amazed!  And grateful for your sharing.  I am approaching a one year anniversary of losing my spouse.   And I want to get to celebrate a year!  The longest before was 4.5 months.   This time is different.  I have strategies - practical, in the moment steps to take. And support.  And you inspire me.   We can let go of this limiting addiction and be free, and happy, and feel better.

I loved your story , I completely understand. Things are hard and it was there when I needed it but I know it was hurting me and then sometimes if you know you hit that point. Those cross roads probably only a few times in your life where it will benefit you or not and thats where you make your decision. But I'm glad quit I can breathe I feel myself  better again more energy no fatigue definitely a good change

About the Author
I started smoking at 25 and it took me a year to learn to inhale so I really was hooked by 26. I have smoked 50 years and quit August 11, 2020 so today is my 28th day. My husband of 54 years died March 1 and he had smoked for 65 years. I knew when he died I would quit as I had tried 5 times before but his smoking made me jealous or I could smell it. Used him as an excuse to start smoking again. I am retired from a university. Raised in Nebraska and living in Iowa since 1978.
