One year and a month

I had thought that being a year smoke-free would earn me some sort of pass, a freedom from worrying about cigarettes.  It’s true, the cravings are mostly gone.  (I mean thoughts, not cravings as someone here once pointed out).

Still, there are many moments I think of smoking, want to taste that nicotine so badly.  Some nights I find myself smoking in my dreams… big sigh, then wake up wanting just a puff.  But the thoughts are fleeting and don’t have to turn into action- another lesson I learned here.  Not one puff ever!!!

Proud to remain on my forever quit journey.  It is never ending, though, and often frustrating and exhausting to have to stay vigilant all the time.  But oh, so worth it!

Was able to send a kid to camp for a week (at the Y) with money saved from not buying cigarettes.    I use to spend just over $300 a month on my addiction.  Feels great to help those in need now, especially with so many suffering in this economy.

I know I can’t wipe away years of smoking overnight, or ever recoup all that wasted cash.  But it does feel great and worth the struggle to be able to give now.  So I’m celebrating one year and a month🎉🌈🎊🥳
