I slipped up on my birthday...

Hi everyone, I slipped up on my birthday.  I had a couple of puffs of the vape. What I will say is that I felt fatigued when I had a couple of puffs of the vape.  Which comes to prove, that there is nothing like a breath of fresh air! I feel disappointed, but I will carry on with my quit.  The point is never to give up!!  I thank this amazing community for all the support. I do feel disappointed, though. But I shall continue with my quit.  It was all going smoothly until I saw someone else vape.  Cigarettes (or vapes) genuinely don’t make the party better.

Dont give up! A slip up can happen. The question I think is to ask yourself - if this happens again - what are 3 things I can do to deter addiction?
continue with your quit and be healthy!!! I know you will!

SO happy you are right back at it!  Good for you!

But, some brain sensors were reawakened by those puffs.  There is never such a thing as 'just one" dose of nicotine.  So - get out your tools and be prepared to use them like you did at the beginning of your quit.

Remember your thought pattern when you took a few puffs.  It wasn't a slip unless there was a wet floor, a banana peel or ice involved.    It was a decision!  Make a plan NOW how you will short circuit them in the event they start in again.  What SHOULD you have done instead of give in?

Lesson learned!  Keep going now!

@jettagirl170   That probably wasn't the best way to celebrate your birthday but next year you can celebrate it along first year nicotine free.

That's already behind you. Don't let it define your quit.  It's a little slip, so getting right back on track is essential.   Don't let that happen again.  How do you do that?  Use your tools, go for walk, deep breathing and most importantly reach out to the Ex before you smoke and let the Ex do it's job.

Don't be around vapers right now if need be.  Yours or anyone else's

Stay close and stay busy.

Thanks everyone.  I asked for two cigarettes today.  The dopamine hit doesn’t last long.  I don’t know why I did that, except that I wanted to celebrate my birthday.  There are better ways.  I got a better dopamine hit from baking my own birthday cake!  I’ll stay close to the site for support.  You are right - there is never such a thing as one hit.  I’ll get right back to my quit.  I went for a short walk afterwards and felt so much better.  I don’t know why I did that.  I’m better off without cigarettes/vapes.  Next time a crave comes, I’ll come to the site for support.  Thanks.

I used all my tools today.  I am doing breathing exercises on the Relax Lite app, which offers breathing guidance; doing meditation through the Insight Timer app (most meditations are free!); looking at my affirmation cards.  I’ve committed myself to never give in again.  I feel guilty for having vaped for six months.  I saw the changes on my skin, and did not like it.  But at least I stopped after six months.  I forgive myself and allow myself to move on.  I ordered a gua sha tool, and my next project will be to use this tool on my face using gentle strokes (I am looking at YouTube videos on how to do this), to give my face a nice lymphatic drainage and to have more skin density and better tone on my face.  Also using red light therapy, which has been proven to help the nervous system.  All these give me a better dopamine release, as I am pampering myself by applying self-care ❤️.
