Where do you go looking for new material to comment on? Where do you look for people looking for advise and encouragement?
Hmmm.... this is a tough one with so many places to go. I tend to lean more towards looking at the blogs first and then conversations.
I look mostly in recent conversations. But I go to the home page to get an overview of everything that is going on.
If WE can't decide, how can we expect folks new to the site to know (rhetorical question, I guess)?
I check everywhere, pretty much - I go to the Ex-Feed and then "all activity" to get an overview, then I check both the conversations (and questions) and then the blogs. I read most responses everywhere because sometimes the first thing they do is comment.
I feel committed because I know others don't have the time I do.
That is pretty much what I do also Nancy. I have gotten into the routine of checking everywhere so that now it is just second nature to me. I would hate for someone needing help to be overlooked because we all are just active in one area. Thanks for your input.
I select "all content" to see everything. Plus I filter using "date created - newest first" to look at that day's items.
Thanks for your input!
Did you have fun?
As I voted---I do all of the above. I've established a routine of going to the cafe to see who was there all day (I usually am never on the site during the day), then I go to blogs to see what's new and then to conversations. Then I check out my inbox to see who has commented on what. Then---I send any private messages that I want to.
You left out Inbox which would be my first choice. But, like many others I'm scattered with my attention all over the site. And that's, I think, a bit of the problem. I'd say I go from my inbox first. From there it's probably my feed. Oats or hay, I like them both. Usually hit the cafe at least once during the day just to say howdy and see if anybody is new there or someone is revealing information that they don't elsewhere (like in a blog or conversation) and try to hit the Freedom Train to offer support. Groups are non-existent to me. But then - they've been made so in part by the enlargement of the umbrella and lack of proprietorship.
Well I certainly check my inbox also - but I don't necessarily go there to find new blogs or discussions. If I have a PM from someone asking for help it is usually because I reached out to them. Thanks for your input.
Conversations, then content. That gets me every blog, discussion, question, and poll in order of latest activity. The only exception is the pledge and freedom train. They don't show up there.
I may be wrong - but I don't think you see all the blogs that way. I tried it at first but realized that I was missing some by not going to the home page - and clicking on "all blog post" down and to the right. Thanks for joining the poll!
I think you can, but I could be wrong, too. In order to be sure you are seeing everything, you have to change content to sort by latest created instead of latest commented.
I have been preaching about the sorting from day one - lol
Maybe I am doing something else wrong but I cannot find:
"Another Hump Day is Upon Us!!"
"Feeling Old and Tired Today"
"What I'd Like to See"
I see these on the home page but not under Conversations. Let me know what I am doing wrong - it is not the sorting - sure would simplify things for me.
There are very few "Blogs in Conversations", only 7 at this time actually. The blogs, except the group blogs from Elgg, were migrated in as Personal blogs so they go in each user's personal blog "folder". Yours would be Jennifer-Quit-05-01-14 Blog. Look I @mentioned your Blog.
Those who continue writing blogs, for the most part, post them in their personal blog. You may also create a blog post in other Places (Communities and Social Groups). The location will usually appear below the title in gray text.
See the screenshot below to see the location (in red box) for the blogs you mentioned.
When viewing your blog posts or the posts of others in their profile you can see where the blog is located by looking under the title. kristen_9.7.15 for instance has many blogs in her personal container but one called "Memories" in Conversations.

Neat poll , I usually look all over he site when I log in. I voted conversations but then got to thinking about it.
I believe you can see all blogs this way: Click on your avatar, then on Content. On the left side, select ALL. Then on the top you can filter by Blogs, Content, etc.
I hit blogs first, I do pretty much everything from my inbox, including the Freedom Train, love yourself forum, daily pledge and the ex cafe which I believe I missed today and if I get a chance I'll check the homepage but I find everything takes twice as long now then it did with the old ex but maybe it's just me!
I have been a little under the weather and I have not been here much the last couple of days. I was so very happy to see Mark make the announcement that we can now view everything with one click - on the home page click on "Read The Latest Updates"
