Welcome to EX...education is key and preparation puts that education to use.  Read, blog, comment, ask for advice and listen to those who have gone before you.  The beauty of this site is that there is always someone on here who is either at exactly the same place as you are or has just been there.  Stay close to the site, read everything you can.  I strongly recommend a blog written by YoungAtHeart For Our New Years' Quitters (and community member...   You will find great information and support right there.  Ellen

If  you are trying to quit at the same time, I would recommend you come up with a code word to forestall grumpy/nasty interactions - maybe something like "meatloaf," or "go knit a rhino," or "I think I hear the doorbell (especially if you don't HAVE one)"  There WILL be times when you just want to be left alone, or feel about to explode - so having a plan might be helpful!

surfandstrings I feel that I need to say this because I have seen more than one partnership go down the tubes here...you have to EACH accept that you own your OWN quits...if one of you slips...the other one can keep going.  It is really important to remember that, ALWAYS.  I look forward to reading your posts as you travel this journey.  One suggestion I can make is to take the Daily Pledge every morning and ride that day's Freedom Train.  Links to both can be found at the top of the page under "Celebrations and Events."  It helps to commit to others each day and to celebrate other members' milestones as we travel along that same road.

I have my fears. I quit before and was doing well, she struggled. While I was fine with the struggle, as my smell came back I had that non smoker reaction to the smell. It was hard.
The stress was hard as well. I was willing to risk cancer over the tension so started smoking again. We are both really committed. I feel our quits are our own. Just no the struggle is coming.
i have one cigarette left in the house and start Tomorrow. Already like thinking I need some more to get to the morning. Like the extra six smokes are really going to help.

I wrote a blog a bit ago and asked for best advice from our members that you both might find helpful.  I highly recommend the book by Allen Carr that I will mention:  For Our New Years' Quitters (and community member... The book will give you wonderful insight on this addiction and what it does to your body and mind.  Some of the advice won't pertain to you since you are quitting tomorrow, but the readings make great crave busters.

Be sure to change up your routine tomorrow to reduce the associations and triggers.  When you feel like you need a smoke, change your mind's direction by getting busy!

I'm glad you're here.  Please keep us up-to-date as you get to it!

Stay positive, stay busy, stay true to you.  Best of EX is a great place to read through material.  This little exercise has helped a few.  You might give it a try:  https://excommunity.becomeanex.org/thread/1846-craving-buster-techniques.  Drink lots of water, it will help flush your system.  And slow deep breaths can help relieve the tension.  Hang in.  Chest out.  You CAN do this!

Thanks for asking Mark. Well we have both made it a full 8 days without smoking. It definitely has its moments that really suck, but for the most part we are doing well.
I started yesterday with step 2 of the patch. I have just read some stuff about a second withdrawal period from the patch that comes later after you think you have got the not smoking part licked. So I want to address the nicotine addiction as well. It would suck at like a month or more smoke free to have to go through the crap zone again. My wife is sticking with step one patches.
I dunno so many different ways and articles on do’s and dont’s I just was feeling pretty strong so stepped down. Haven’t noticed a real difference in last 48 hours so I think the gamble worked.
