I was on my way to the laundry room and it is right across from the clubhouse.  I ran into a friend...a smoking buddy.  The two of us were always trying to quit together for 6 years.  A year ago he was in the hospital and a nursing home because he had throat cancer.  They had to do an emergency tracheotomy in order for him to breath...and also had a feeding tube because he couldn't swallow.  He went through chemo and radiation.  I was with him the through it all.  I can't believe he is still smoking.  Still has a tracheotomy.   Has to put his finger over the tube in order to talk...totally raspy.  I stopped and talked to him and didn't even haveasier a craving.  In fact I wanted to cry for him...I don't ever want to be like that!!!

Anyway..another guy pulled up in his golfcart and stopped and said he hasn't seen me in awhile...he's a smoker who I've sat with many times and smoked on the patio.  I told him I quit smoking finally for good!!  Told him 16 days. I was surprised that seeing him didn't trigger me.  I only felt sorry for him because he has to smoke.  I told him I have a book that he can read and about EX.  Just to email me and I will send him the info.

That was definitely a test for me and I made it surprisingly with no cravings

Tomorrow I go down there to exercise and I'm not as fearful now!  Just as long as I stay off the patio!

I'm a retired Business Manager and Make-Up Artist for Estee Lauder Cosmetics. I love living near the beach in beautiful, sunny San Diego, California. I've smoked for 45 years...I remember the first time like it was yesterday. I was in 8th grade...13 years old...a circle of about 6 girls. One of the girls had a cigarette from her brother. We passed it around and I remember coughing but tried it again the 2nd time around. I smoked to be cool when I was in high school. Smoked at parties and the weekends. After I graduated and lived on my own, I smoked a pack a day....everyday until yesterday...6/8/18. I'm here because I want to quit more than anything. I'm 60 years old and pushing my luck! I want to live healthy for 20 more years. I love life!!!
