Tomorrow and tomorrow and

well, you know. I'm back to day one tomorrow. Last time I went two and a half weeks, so I know what to expect to an extent. I've done all the recommended reading, even talked to my doctor who said most of his patients try about eight times before quitting long-term (he also billed me $60 for "smoking cessation counselling" for that two-minute talk, but that's a diatribe for another day). I'm not using any NRT or medications, for various reasons. But I have more confidence this time, though much less excitement.

Thanks to all of you who encouraged me last time, and I'm glad to be back on the wagon!

I started smoking as soon as I possibly could, and loved it from the very beginning. Nicotine never left my side; I let it become ingrained in everything I did, a part of my identity. As more and more of my friends quit I continued to smoke, and even more. Now I know that I am a nicotine addict, and long to live life as a free and happy ex-smoker.
