Exactly right, it is the best thing that can happen. A few weeks of some stress and upset over the change from smoking to quitting eventually turns to something far better if you let it. I had to talk to myself a lot just before I quit in 2013 and at the start. I'd smoked for most of 37 years--and I thought my smoking was me. The two are not the same, and smoking is not the end all/ be all of life. Not picking up the cigarette gets us out of the addiction (and for many of us top notch support helps too!).
Well Howdy!
Your right , you CAN do this. This quit belongs to you and you alone. YOU decide when it will happen and how it will happen...
1. Will you be ready? Meaning have you read Carrs book...the many blogs on this site?
2. Do you understand the beast your getting ready to go to war with? Because this is a war. I know this much...you will not will without a plan of action. Determination is all well and good...but being prepared is important.
3. Do you have 'tools ' in place ? People to call-things to divert the course? What is your plan when a crave starts to build up??? Will you wait until it is a full force crave? OR will you attack it at its weakest moment. Thats key!
4. Will you be willing to come here and ASK for help or blog and stay active so we can be your back up soldiers?
WE ALL want you to succeed. The choice is yours and we are here...but it must be your choice and your war. We already fought ours...thats why we are here. To help you win yours and to help us remain winners.
GodBless, YOU CAN DO THIS!

This quote was my 'go to' when I quit....and in the gym where I workout.
Good reminder. When we are sick and tired of the same results doing the same thing...its time to change it up!
I came here something like two weeks early, and I'm so glad I did. Today is my quit-day. I woke up this morning and, for the first time in many, many years, did not smoke. So far, so good. I don't feel strong enough or proven enough to give much advice just yet; it's too early in my journey. But I can tell you that starting here in advance of the quit date made today so, so, so much more manageable. Congratulations on making this brave decision, colegrundy! I'm in your corner! -- Dawn
