60 Days......

I never ever thought I would make it when I started.  The day I decided to throw the cigarettes out and start a new chapter, I didn't think it was going to last, I mean, I've done this several times, quit for a couple weeks, then go right back to smoking......what is different about this time?

You know, I think it was being fed up......fed up with spending money all the time, fed up with not having money to do other things like buy the higher quality cuts of meat at the grocery store, and before the the pandemic, I didn't do much of anything outside of work, school and home life.  I mean, I haven't even taken my son to do anything fun in like a year, all because I was worried about not having enough money, enough money for cigarettes later in the month.   Today, those things look a little different.  Today I have extra money, today I can breathe better, today I am being a better role model for my son and for the kids that I work with.

When I first got on Becomeanex.org I wasn't sure if it was going to be a place I visited often, or if I would just sign up and forget all about it.  While I haven't been on much lately, mainly due to going back to work and my classes starting back up, this place definitely helped me to get passed the first 30 days of my quit, which was the longest I had made it ever.  This time I wanted to quit smoking, this time I knew I was truly ready.  This community, helped me stay true to myself, and made sure that I stuck to my goal.  I'm sorry I have been absent for the past few weeks, but I'm still smoke free, and I still love all of my quit friends here, even if I haven't said hi recently.  I hope that you all are well and staying strong.  My husband is on like day 49, so it definitely helps that he doesn't smoke anymore.  Today I am baking my own bread, for the very first time, to celebrate my day 60.  I think every 30 days I will do something new, to replace that something old that I no longer do anymore.

Thank you my quit community for supporting me and for all the support you have provided me.  I look forward to staying part of this community, and hope to see it grow with more beautiful people.

Your Quit Friend for Life,

I work at an elementary school helping kids with learning disabilities. I worked in the technology industry for 8 years, and finishing up college to go back into that field, with a degree this time. I've had previous substance abuse issues, but have been clean from that for 3 years now, and working hard everyday to stay away from cigarettes.
