Wasn't Tempted!

Woo Hoo, my neighbor friend stopped by yesterday afternoon as I was working in the yard. As would have been the norm we would sit and chat and he said "Got time for a cigarette?"  I replied "yes and no", it's ok if you want to, I believe I'll be ok, but I haven't smoked for almost 3 weeks." I was pleased to see the smile on his face as he congratulated me and, as expected, declined to smoke until he left!  We still visited and chatted and I felt really good about myself - no urges, nothing and I knew he had cigs in his pocket.  A couple of weeks ago I felt sure that if he stopped by I would be tempted to bum a cig. The universe in its infinite wisdom delayed that visit until I was ready Wow!

About the Author
I am a transplant from England and came to California in 1973; became a citizen in 1985. I have promised myself I would be a happy non-smoker by my 70th birthday or sooner - April is getting close! I started smoking at age 15 and like many others have tried to stop several times. This time I have a very different attitude and I am looking at this as a positive move to regaining my freedom as opposed to losing something by giving it up.
