Ramblings at six months

I just passed the six month mark and am thinking about what I would have wanted to hear from my future self back when I first quit. Here are some of those thoughts:

You're going to succeed at this. Just picture yourself six months from now, waking up each day and not even thinking about nicotine, not missing it.

It gets easier fast. The beginning feels unstable and it happens in fits and starts, but you'll notice things getting easier within days of quitting nicotine.

You made the right decision. That might go without saying, but you also started smoking and then kept using nicotine for years even though it was the wrong decision. You will have a few instances when you might think about going back to vaping because it'll seem beneficial for some reason. That is an illusion - see through it immediately.

Just doing right will make you feel better about yourself. In fact, it will open many doors of self loving behavior.

You will have to face your emotions better and you will feel ashamed for not handling them well in the past. It will be hard work. However you'll also quickly realize that now is better than never and that you can be a better version of yourself.

Your quit will mean more to you than you realize today. One day, when you empathize with someone who relapsed, it'll hit you how heartbroken you'd feel if you chose to go back. You'll see that any day can become day zero and your soul will scream NO.

It's not as hard as you thought it would be and it's worth it. Six months flies by.
