Skittles412's Status Update on 05/09/2018

I"m new to this site and wanted to say hello. I'm on day 71 of my quit and I'm feeling pretty good. I still have urges but they are far and few between. Anyone have any tactics they use when urges hit?  Looking for new ways to distract myself.  Thank you 🙂

skittles412 WOW, welcome to EX, 71 days is nothing to sneeze at, you have done that by yourself?  CONGRATULATIONS...there are a whole lot of people here and many of us quit several times before it "took", some people just quit and that was that, they never smoked again. Remembering that this is a journey is huge.   Your craves are not coming frequently and that's progress.  At the point you are at...71 days, you are in No Man's Land and that can be a tricky place.  Here are a couple of blogs that were not written by me but that certainly were helpful, the first is from JonesCarpeDiem  No Mans Land Days 30 to 130 (approximate) and the second is a weekly check in written by roller831  NML & In-betweener Weekly Check in - 1/29/2018   Your craves are now pretty much associations...for as long as you smoked, you did so associated with particular experiences or events and those associations have to be changed, you need to make NEW memories.  You will never be disappointed in the support from this site, the people here are amazing.  One thing that my respiratory therapist recommended to me to help me with breathing AND to distract me from my craves...she said to buy a bottle of bubble juice and sit outside and blow bubbles...I watch those bubbles float away and I have to admit that it is mesmerizing.  My sister said that when she smoked, she loved to watch the smoke...I never felt that way but I DO love to watch the bubbles.  They are multicolored and some are HUGE, it returns me to a place in my life before I smoked and that was a long time ago.

Again, welcome to EX, so happy to have you here.
