Congratulations on your decision to quit smoking.  You cannot be too educated about this addiction, YoungAtHeart  will hopefully step in and give you a welcome.  Education, support, and commitment are vital to a successful quit.  Commitment has to come from you. Start preparing NOW for your quit date...My EX Plan | BecomeAnEX  Figure out your triggers and what you will do INSTEAD of smoking when they occur...they WILL occur.  You might want to read a couple of really good blogs, one by YoungAtHeart For Our New Years' Quitters (and community member... and another by JonesCarpeDiem My Welcome To New Members (12+ Years Of Watching)  I think you will find those blogs to be a helpful start.

Welcome to EX, we all want you to succeed.

Welcome!
I highly recommend the book by Allen Carr mentioned in my blog noted above.  He dispels the myth that smoking does anything FOR you....what you think is a lie.  Educate yourself on this addiction to find out all about it!
Then make think about each cigarette you smoke, the whens, wheres and whys.  THEN try to put each one off just a bit as you get busy doing something else. You will naturally cut down on the number you smoke that way, and prove to yourself that just because you think you have to smoke, you probably only WANT to!  Then you can start to make plans for what you will do instead when you quit.
this isn't easy, but it IS doable - and the better prepared you are the more likely you are to be successful.
I'm glad you are here!
