MelodyEve's Status Update on 08/16/2018

I have a horrible debate going on inside my head.......Do I go ahead and start my quit again now or do I wait the 3 days?......I literally feel like I'm going to puke.

This is a repost from another quit site I am on..  I always share it when I see people struggling with anxiety over their quit date..  The stress of thinking about it is far worse then just doing it.

The myth of being "READY. " One of the greatest myths in recovery from any drug or alcohol addiction. I'm sure you've all heard it at one time or another. The myth is, that for the addict to recover, they have to be "ready"' or it won't work. But guess what? This idea is totally false! Interventionists all over the world now help families to get their addicts and alcoholics into treatment. The person being invited to treatment is never "ready"! But a strange thing then happens. As long as they stay in treatment, the ones who were not "ready" have just as good of outcomes, and just as high success rates, as the ones who checked themselves in "ready"! Adding another week, two weeks, or month or more to your projected quit date will not help you succeed or get "ready". You don't really need to give us two weeks notice. In fact it kind of  antagonizes those here who have already quit. And of course you stink the joint up with sickarette smell. Another few weeks of smoking will simply make you poorer, more addicted, less attractive, and more unhealthy. All you really need is a decision, and the simple ability to follow directions. If smoking is inconsistent with your beliefs, health, lifestyle, or finances, just join us in not smoking, one day at a time. The sooner the better. You don't have to wait until you are "ready"! That's just another lie the junkie brain tells us to keep us using. Ready or not, your chances will be just as good as mine are so long as you don't take that FIRST puff. You can go to bed a WINNER this very night should you choose to. No waiting required!

Thank you so much EleanorRigby!....I have tortured myself all day with this "ready" thing. Trying to do it the way its laid out on this site and I have done a number on myself all day.  ❤️ Thank you so very very much for sharing that with me 🙂

I am so happy Melody.. Many people I know just had had enough, stopped right then and there, threw their pack away and never smoked again.. was it easy?  No, not always, but it is simple..  just please don't smoke it.  Whatever discomfort you go through is temporary and well worth it.  Good luck and keep us posted.  Also,I am sure you have heard of Alan Carr's The Easy Way to Quit Smoking haven't you?  If not check it out.  You'll love it.
