Stick close to this site because we as a community of Exers are all here for you to help in any way we can and want you to succeed in kicking the nicotine poison to the curb and start living a life of Freedom, quitting smoking after decades of smoking is definetly difficult to say the least but by educating yourself on this horrid addiction by reading everything you can about quitting smoking and remaining quit and by believing in yourself by being willing, determined and totally committed and pushing through each day WON with perserverence and dedication then you will be successful, it's going to take time to get through the rollercoaster ups and downs of withdrawls and moodswings and to relearn life without the crutch of smoking but it's absoloutely worth it to be Free so hang on tight, keep your mind as well as your hands occupied and know that joining the ranks of an Ex Smoker is the best gift that you or any of us will give ourselves because it's the gift of life! Stick with N.O.P.E. - Not One Puff Ever - because it works when applied on a daily basis and boy oh boy it's worth it to be Smokefree so chin up and take back your life one precious Smoke Free Day at a time or hour, minute or second at a time as long as you keep moving then you'll be successful.....
You are absolutely right Marilyn, and if I could add: yes it is not easy, but the more we work on our thoughts, the happier we are about the decision not to smoke we are making every day, the easier to learn new habits, the easier to step away from the nasty addiction. When we can train our mind to see all the positives and let the nagging thoughts of "I need one, I want one, just one" fade away, when we consciously elect new healthy routines (new hobbies, healthy snacks), we make it easier with every day won!
