I quit in December 2006. Not really sure of exact date so I just go with 12/30/06 as my date. I've also been a member since 2001. It was in 2001 that I made my first attempt at quitting. That lasted for about 6 months. Then marital problems crept up and I was smoking again! I am so thankful that I quit smoking. I started sneaking cigarettes before I was 10 years old. I remember the first carton of Marlboro Reds that I bought, I was 13-14 years old. I used the $20 that my grandmother gave me for Christmas to buy them. It was cool back then to smoke, made you look fearless & strong. (so I thought) Before I knew it, 30 years pass. I'm smoking 2 packs a day. I cant walk across the parking lot at work without feeling breathless. I pray to God to help me stop smoking as I'd done several times the past few years. Then one winter I came down with a bad case of bronchitis or flu. when I started to overcome that, I realized that I hadn't smoked in a few days, So I said then that I was finished with them. It has been over 10 years now! I am thankful that I quit!
