We are a group of unique individuals with one main purpose - to quit and/or remain quit. It is not really important to me the method you choose - NRT, Cold/Smart Turkey, or prescription meds. I used the patch and also elected to "count my days". There really is no wrong way to quit - except to smoke after you have quit.
Some do not find counting the days useful but for me it helped. I remember early in my quit seeing others relapse - they would smoke "just one" and then struggle with resetting the clock and more often than not - struggle with getting started again. They would often blame others or circumstances in their life for having "just one". This, in part, kept me moving forward in my quit I did not want to ever have to "struggle" with the decision to reset my clock or look for others to blame for my mistake. That is why I count the days and check my numbers often. Not every day like I did in the beginning but often enough to know that I never want to see it at Zero.
Having this group of people to be accountable to also kept me honest. Many times early on I would hear the little voice that said "You can have just one - no one will ever know." And I would say to myself "But I will know - and I never want to have to write my confessional blog". So THANK YOU to everyone here (past and present) that inspired me to keep moving forward - I could not have done it without you all!
