Who Am I?

Blog Post created by Jennifer-Quit-05-01-14 Champion on May 1, 2017

Who am I to judge those of you who have relapsed and restarted?  I cannot judge you because I used to be just like you.  I remember wanting to quit almost from the time that I first started smoking.  Back in those days it was considered a "habit", much like biting your fingernails so I thought that quitting should be easy.  I would make an attempt to quit but kept going back to the nasty and disgusting habit of smoking.  Many times years would pass between my attempts to quit.

Three years ago I started on the journey once again.   A man that I work with had quit, and I suppose that got me to start thinking about quitting.  I didn't really prepare much.  I did a little reading on the internet.  I was down to my last few cigarettes and decided that when they were gone - I was through.  On April 30, 2014 around 10:00 PM, I smoked my last one.  I threw away all ashtrays and lighters, went to bed and woke the next day an Ex-smoker.  On the morning of my 3rd day, I found this site and the rest is history.  It was not always easy but I kept pushing through and adding days - one at a time. And that really is how we all do it.  No matter if you have a 1 day quit or 10,000 - we all do it one day at a time.

For those of you struggling, I want more than anything for you to feel the way that I feel today!  I want for you to experience the feeling of being free from the ball and chain of nicotine addiction.  That  ball and chain does nothing but drag you down.  Find it in yourself to let this be your final and forever quit!  Freedom feels wonderful!
