That was my no smoking thought for today. "I won't go back"! As always we have a life that keeps happening but no matter what I will not go back to the pain of taking a deadly puff. I will not allow my addiction to be in control. It is not worth the grief, sorrow, guilt, agony or disdain for picking up again..Nothing is worth giving up the freedom I have from nicotine addiction. I chose to take a deep breath and suck it up. Sometimes we have to do just that...suck it up and keep moving. In the early days of my quit, I would keep my hands busy, cleaning, organizing, and yes washing dishes. lol. Even now if I have to, Yes, I will wash dishes or anything else that I need to do to distract from the urge/thought of a smoke. After 5.5 years I know that if I take a deep breath, dismiss the thought of smoking and move on I will be secure not to smoke. NOPE no matter what will keep my sanity. I know that fantasizing and romancing a cigarette could lead to trouble. So I brace myself, move out of the space that I am in,(literally)take a deep breath, and do something different. /blogs/Youngatheart.7.4.12-blog/2013/02/25/100-things-to-do-instead-of-smoke?sr=search&searchId=31d1... If you take this list and implement the things that you can do and not smoke you will make it through that 3-5 minutes of an urge and dismiss it. Now of course it takes practice of doing it over and over again until it sticks. Like spaghetti. The more you do it the easier it becomes. I call it reverse automatic pilot. We would automatically smoke when triggered now you learn that we can reverse the action and automatically not smoke. https://excommunity.becomeanex.org/groups/newbie-quitters/blog/2018/09/07/turn-autopilot-to-off. Just Breathe. ..
Never give up, never give in, hang tough no matter what NOPE. Be willing to save your quit.
