Yippee I made it. Thank you to all of those who lend support to the newbies. I was luck enough to find some great elders to follow and learn from
is celebrating 1 year quit!
For the last couple of months I have been taking my English Setters to a new fenced in dog park that has oodles of oak, maple and fir trees that is the home to MANY squirrels and birds. They love chasing them, even though they are always on the other side of the fence. One goes east, the other goes west, they turn and race past each other. Missy always gets the inside of the track and Jax takes t ...Read more

Only 79 days until I have ONE YEAR Quit!! On the other side of that number it means only 75 days til Christmas and this year I have gift money!!! N.O.P.E
8 months quit: “How do you relax as a non-smoker?”
I wouldn't have believed this if I had not lived it. I Love being a non smoker. I very rarely think about them anymore. 8 months!!! When I used to smoke, and was just standing around, I would flick the ashes off the sickarette with my little finger. I caught myself flicking my 3rd finger as if it were a cig. I had to laugh...Long time old habits die hard. Thanks for the support on the Q.& ...Read more
I couldn't find a kite to fly to celebrate my 200th day quit, but I am flying hi that I've been able to quit this many days. It's good to know there are oldtimers on here that keep giving encouragement with stories of their failures and quits. Thank you Qfriends N.O.P.E.+
8 years ago this morning, I was on my way to have a triple by pass and smoked what I thought was going to be my very last cigarette. Well, that lasted for 6 months Today I have 6 months plus a few days free of smoking. I was such a dummy for having just that one in a moment of stress. I am thumbing my nose at stress today...its not going to cause me to pick up another one. Some ...Read more

5 months quit: “What physical or mental improvements have you noticed?”
Five months!!!! I thought I would never get past a week! It seems odd but somewhere along the way, I discovered that I did not like the words Quit or Quitters. They had a very negative connotation. I remember my Dad encouraging my siblings and I not to be quitters....If you start something, finish it. I also remember kids in school calling the one who got tired of playing a game a quitter ...Read more

Today was a really big day for me! 75 smoke free days. Wow...Yay and happy dance. One of the Elders was recently talking about the investments he made with his "cigarette" savings. So, yesterday I opened a savings account and deposited $514.00. I see a vacation on the horizon. Thanks to everyone who has encouraged me along the way and a special shout out to ...Read more
2 months quit: “What are you doing differently now that you’ve quit?”
Cigarettes were my courage. If I had to meet with someone new...smoke about it. If I had try learn something new...smoke about it. If I had to go somewhere new..smoke about it. They were also my reward for getting a task completed. I have had to learn about being brave without a smoke. I think I have learned that quitting makes me be brave.(a little) I have always been on the shy side, so my ...Read more

2 weeks quit: “Is your quit harder or easier than you expected?”
It's been two great weeks. I feel so much more alive! Have had the same NRT patch on for 3 days, so I guess I am over the physical part of withdrawals. Yippee Tonight I have been getting very dizzy and am not sure why... I hardly ever think of cigarettes any more...but I know that nicodemon is waiting up the road to taunt me. I'm ready
Oh look....there's a whole pack of American Spirits AND a lighter on my counter....and I sing " just walk on by". What a good feeling. I am an ex-smoker
Today I don't remember even thinking about a cigarette! Late in the afternoon, I was looking for a key that has gotten lost. I figured it was in a jacket or hoodie pocket so I started going thru them. I found 3/4 of a cigarette in a pocket and absent mindlessly put it back. I remember for a split second thinking I am a non-smoker. I started to walk away and realized that I shouldn't leave it there. I ended up drowning it with water. I guess I owe me a big pat on the back. Thanks for all of your stories of encouragement and successes. NOPE
